Facts of Bankrolls

  • In my ventures which includes Atlantic City, Vegas, Connecticut, South Florida, Reno, Southern California and parts of the Midwest high limit rooms and those with baccarat and no HL rooms I have made the following well observed and 3 decade long observation of.

It is enormously harder to win and walk away with a larger bankroll & your win money, as compared to a smaller one. All in proportion, one can say small from a few hundred to $1k as compared to $5k to $20k.  Or one can say small from $2k to $10k as compared to $50k to $200k.

In my mind, it is because we tend to 'plateau' out and go from there.  I have wrote about this in the past and if you look back through my posts you will find that, I will not repeat about 'plateauing'.

I have witnessed and observed many more players in the 'smaller' bankroll categories by far, get up and walk away from the table calling it a session/day/trip--whatever.  The larger players tend to play on until they are bust.  Yes, occasionally they do walk away and call it a session, but those numbers are trivial as compared to the 'smaller' bankrolled players.

This is not meant to insult or accuse anyone here of anything.  Just my observations and witnessing over the years.  Experience and knowledge as to how dangerously easy and hard this game is will assist those with realistic expectation that can practice 100% patience and discipline each and every time.

  • Simply because I think it is fairly a good topic.  I took the time to write an extensive reply or two to Drew's topic.  However, others came on with short sarcastic burps that I rather my response did not remain because in all fairness I get kind of detailed at times and I seriously think my responses stop a few others from posting in a thread.  It was a good topic so I thought to write something and hope for serious responses, which sometimes comes and sometimes don't here.

It also coincides nicely with a topic I wrote about before with 'Plateaus'.

  • Well yes this topic can be sensitive .... People will have their own feelings and opinions...
With me... I have marker for around 10k and there are times I have used upto 5k in one session whether I was up or down I try not to use anymore then.  people will spend whatever amount they feel comfortable with... Whether it's 500 upto 50k I have seen it all as well... I most play would be 3k buyin for few hours of sessions betting anywhere few hundred to 1500 and "most" of time (couple of hours) I'm up few hundred to few thousands then I call it quit...I don't play till I'm bust out lol that will be silly.

  • I still believe if you have sufficient bankroll you can walk out as winner most of times.... Of course it will depend on your betting habits and type of games you play  many other things..but bankroll plays big part of way you would play any of the games...

Early on, most of the times you are correct.  The upper majority, and I do mean the upper majority will sit there until depleted--no matter if they won or not.  It is the mentality and the physiological effect self-inflicted by most and seldom realized.
