I normally do not bring other forum business onto BetSelection here, but I will in a very generic way.
We lost numerous members here when I took over from Vic, for various reasons. One was I attempted to put a stop to the constant degrading and humiliating one-liners and drama that was so prevalent in so many ways. Sorry, just reality. We are not a Vegas Message Board or a Wizard of Odds where the huge masses of regulars, sock puppets and everything else which makes little to no sense the majority of the times, IMO (not the opinion of BetSelection) is ridiculous! It is like sitting at a small town barber shop with a group of 70 year old, board out of their minds men from the town talking about everything. No direction and mostly just insults or attempts to cut someone down.
I did not want that atmosphere here. There was about 5 to 10 popular and well known members that was the cause of what I just mentioned. I warned them and warned them, the situation was pushed and pushed and gave them fuel to turn the tables on me. Right or wrong, that is what happened. I moderated and I banned a few, the rest left and went on a war path against me. Turned the situation in their favor and enlisted others to leave as well. All fine and good. Analyze who left, who stayed, come to your own conclusions. Analyze what they actually contributed and IMO, with the exception of Mark (Gizmo) the rest had little to no value, IMO. I don't mind them and as long as there is no insults and downright out chastising and humiliating, I had no problem with them back then or now. As long as they have the purpose to act like washwomen and old men in that barber shop, I do have a problem with them, still do.
They talk on other boards about me and BetSelection. I heard it last night from 2 other members among them. I know almost everything they told me, I respect them. they are cool people and although we are different, the message boards brought us together. One I have known for a long time, since the WoV and the VMB days and our old in detail with pictures, Vegas trips. Since 2004 or so. The other one I recently met about a year ago and he is a high profiled member on another message board. We all have our purpose for being a member on any board if we participate. Still, I have no problem with them or anyone else. Unless you come on for the purposes of drama and throwing stuff out there that just pisses people off.
Okay ,with that said. We hung out and we played at several casino. Mostly won. Had a great time and drinking a bit and talking. Amazing what so many miss and amazing what so many attempt to do with their disturbance and drama. But like the game of baccarat. You can have a table that is all wagering on one side and that sole person or couple that waits to place their wagers. Once we are all together and ready, that one or two will eyeball the table, talk and wager against the group playing together. They wager an extremely small amount of money (not that it matters, but their point is clear) they want to knock out the group and their actions spell it out very clearly. If the group was on players and say, returned a Natural 8, they look at their cards, if they have nothing they silently toss it in. If they have a chance of a tie or a Natural 9, they milk the situation and they slam it down while literally saying something to make it known how they knock the rest of the players out.
What is different between now and before is that a few years back, say prior to 2000, those that did not agree with the majority of the players would just have the dealer flip their cards or would not say anything while they worked their cards. It was a matter of class, ethics and standards which seem to have mostly faded. Kinda like the majority of the message board people.
But then again, I might be wrong.
