The other night my buddy and I were at the casino. You know, if you ever had one of those sudden urges, like--"Come on let's go, it's only 90 miles away, it's snowing, no ones on the highway, let's go", type of sudden urges like right around 11:30PM at night. Weather was nasty, about zero outside, winds picking up, been snowing, a week night, we should have the whole baccarat table to ourselves when we get there about 1:30 or 2:00 AM.
My buddy moaned and groaned and didn't want to. I felt something in my gut and I wanted to. This is my buddy that is the retired NYC-PD (ESU) Emergency Serve Unit Swat Team guy. So we roll up to the casino, right at 2 AM and we talked the floor person into getting us a dealer to open a baccarat table. No one was playing of course. About 30 minuets later the table is opened we are buying in.
Two Asian guys come over and expressed their desire to join us and we welcomed them. The dealer laughed because the dealer knows us quite well and all we did was set them up for some laughs actually. The shoe started. We got into one of those ruts, win one, lose one, win two and lose two wagers. For about 20 hands we pushed back and forth. I bought a total of $1,500.00 my buddy had almost as much. The weather was getting worse outside and I did need to open the business at 7:00AM for my guys coming in as no one else had keys for the morning. I thought we could have made a quick buck somehow. It was getting frustrating and nothing was happening. Dealer changes and one of the dealers came over that usually gives me Fortune 7's almost always. Last time I think she gave me two Banker runs with 3 Fortune 7's in each steak of 8 to 10 bankers. Anyways, I break out into a song with my buddy from the classic rock group Golden Earring with that classic 'Twilight Zone' song. In the beginning we are full out singing, "I'm falling down a spiral, destination unknown, A double crossed messenger, all alone, I can't get no connection, can't get through where are you". Right then we are both table max on The Banker with table max limit on Fortune 7 side wagers. The 2 Asian guys are on Players side with Panda 8's side bets wagered. The players side had a total of 2 for the first 2 cards and Bankers had a total of 1. The players side pulls an 8 and both guys are going ballistic like they had a Panda 8 for some reason, slapping each other high 5's, LOL. My buddy and I looked at each other and then we looked at the dealer, she busted out laughing and asked if we wanted to flip the card over or if she should. We broke out into the song by Stealer's Wheel, 'Stuck in the Middle With You'. We loudly recited, 'Clowns to the left of me, Jokers to the Right', we sang it loud, twice. We told her to flip it over and yes, it was a 6! The floor person whom knows us was leaning against his island piece behind the bac table laughing as well.
The streak continued, about 7 or so more Bankers and then another Fortune 7 once again. We colored up and we went to the cashiers cage. Not a bad little thing I guess. Gotta love it when that moment gets there and you can grasp it!
