To me and IMO, the game is not just the cards, it includes the dealer and the other players as 'Key' components the majority of the time and for most people. Property and surroundings usually does not have any effect unless you strictly play for show and/or to impress anther person you are with.

Actually very few I have ever witnessed playing this game for 3 plus decades rarely sits there and has no influence from other players or dealers.

"Players can help or hurt you"'

PLAYER TYPES:

The know it all/explaining why before and after.
Pick one side and always wager that side.
Bet after extensive eye-piercing 'Road' analyzation.
Keep on score card and study both, the board and his card.
Bets tie every hand and then yells how right he was when it finally hits.
Bets opposite highest wager of the unknown player coming in.
Bets with winning players, chastises them if wrong decision.
Heavy bettor and needs the respect and following of others or pulls down.
Bets against those losing and clearly does so.
Point to prove.
The Leader or The General.
And, at times there might be one, that if you wager with them-they will lose-if you wager against them they will win. Somehow, it works out that way.

"Dealers can help or hurt you".

DEALER TYPES:

KNOW IT ALL: One that tells you what they would bet on and they usually play elsewhere or stopped playing. If you asked what side they thought and then they were wrong, they usually would say, "That's why I am dealing and not playing" with a snicker. If they were correct, they would make it known that they picked the side, only because of their experience and knowledge of the game.

THE TALKER: Similar to that of the blackjack dealer mentioned in the other thread. Will engage in conversations and actually not continue dealing until someone repeatedly says something like, "Cards Please" pretty loud. Usually at baccarat this is an Asian dealer to another Asian person or any female dealer to another female and the females are talking about something non-casino related usually.

JUST RIGHT. Adjust his/her speed to player's styles without ever missing a beat. If no one is on one side, will let you also turn those opposite side cards, especially the 3rd one for the other side. Doesn't criticize decisions after the winning hand is exposed. Completely neutral but always remains polite. Very hard to blame this dealer for anything.

ALOOF. Poor eye contact. Stares straight ahead and usually slightly down towards the table 90% of the time. Unfriendly in the classical sense. Never ever state his/her opinions about the game or anything else, even if asked, their answer will be a side-step if not a shrug of the shoulders or a little snicker with no answer. Almost a dead body dealing the game. I think they all spent many years in a toll booth or parking lot cashiers office or something similar to those. Same as a burned out parking/meter maid officer. Blocks out all sentiments and comments from players.

THE COOLER. No matter what, player's can't win more than a few hands here and there with The Cooler. Deals very fast, never making a mistake. Breaks streaks as soon as they sit down. Will always pull a 9 for the side no one is wagering on when you have the 8. Likewise, will always have a 7 on the side no one is wagering on when you have a six. When all the players want The Cooler to expose their hand if someone was wagering on one side, The Cooler will not prevail for you under that strategy. Usually they are pretty nice people and personable, but clearly they are coolers. Never changes.

HATES BAC. Doesn't really want to deal the game. Usually never the younger ones. Could be male or female. Cold 100%. Rarely talks. Nods their head a lot. Little to no eye contact, never a greeting when they come in or leave, never. For some strange reason thinking back on the ones I know hates bac dealing, the males usually has a 2 week old beard or goatee and the females are pretty much your librarian looking dyke stereotypes. They don't make very many mistakes and when they do, you can count on them holding one or both their hands over the lay out, slightly scrunching forward over the table and yelling for the floor to come over. They explain their mistake to the floor manager in great detail with lighting speed, and much like a Supreme Court decision.

GENUINE PEOPLE PERSON. Makes it fun for all around. When it gets ugly with the cards, real ugly that is, they wholeheartedly attempt to get you to leave. When you are up, up a lot, they will also try to get you to leave. Usually does not play the game elsewhere, numerous years of experience. Players always try to sit at their table and always ask for them. Knows most of the player's by first name. This one will even make 'mistakes' in a player's favor and wink when you look at them cause they are giving you a 'free-ride'. Such as when everyone in on the bank, no one on the fortune 7, the bank has 6 and Players have 4 and pull a 6 or a 7 for the 3rd card, the dealer will hurry up and pay everyone. There is one or 2 at every casino, usually always works on the 2nd shift when it is busiest. They also do not like to sit at a table with no one playing.

Thank you for posting.   What do you think about THE COOLER? - Coincidence?

Absolutely, at most casinos.  Usually the same dealers.  Know of many in various states.  Always, never changes.  Some kind of phenomenon.  I don't think anyone can logically explain it, but certain dealers are.

Some dealers put the skill and work in to really qualify for high limit or an illusionist show with a packed house and some can't keep their chip tray full properly.  Fun sometimes to go watch them work a large table of other card games that require more dealing skill.

A dealer not concentrating fits in somewhere.  They're people too and they can make mistakes or run out of chips by not managing their colors.   Be careful if you're the only player at the table by watching for errors and if you see a dealer is running out of a color you use actively, take action right away or work around it (BET BIGGER).

100% complete superstition and fallacy about the 'what you use' thing.  Yes, some casinos will purposely limit a smaller color chip and attempt to get you to use larger denominations, especially when several hoard one color such as green or black.  However, most don't.

The only that does to players that truly believe they cannot win or a different color will change their outcomes, is they take away from their concentration and have something to blame their inevitably loss on.  They become so focus and upset about that, their game suffers.

As far as mistakes, yes it does happen.  I have witness a slew of players and players that play regularly---not knowing the rules as well and arguing over really unintelligent things, like 38 specials and the one they always do where I go locally, is the Players side pulling a third card 6 or a 7 when the Bankers side already has a 6. There are more but that is the most popular here.

Haven't seen a mistake I was aware of not be corrected.

By chips, I mean the mini tables allow the placement of odd numbers on high payout bets and the Bank/ Player minimum is $10 so $5's and $1's get taken from the dealers very quickly.  At the midi tables there is the same issue, but for $25's, $5's.  Sometimes a buy-in doesn't even get completed quickly because there aren't enough $100's.  A dealer should stock up for the table they're at.  They know which chips are going to be in high demand for bet placement.  Last night everyone could see the dealer run out of $5's so like a boss I switched to a nearby table and missed an easy high payout win.  I should have just gotten the $5's at the table next door until the dealer received there supply.

Most everyone would agree with the comments on working with only certain denominations as only a few players like the whole army of one type of chips thing.

Too funny to see someone on casino staff who happens to be Chinese speak and mumble Mandarin to an Asian dealer who keeps stating 'I'm not Chinese'.

Also, WTH chip staff and other secondary staff interrupting the last moments of the betting time before a hand is going to play with huge action on the table.  GO AWAY.

Many tend not to know or perhaps ignore the fact that, Laos does not speak or understand Viet, Korean does not speak or understand Chinese, Chinese does not speak or understand Cambodian and so on and so forth.  Yes, a few Asians do speak and understand a couple of different languages, but it is the same as expecting an American to speak and understand French and Italian as well.  But so many do think all Asians are Chinese.

I know I mentioned before elsewhere, but what do you think about the player that goes in with minimum bet against the rest of the table that has huge paper on their side.  For example, they are the only ones betting Player with thousands lined up for Bank.  AND they squeeze their side harder than a case of Charmin.. Not just squeeze, they are squeezing soooooo hard. AND win?

I just don't see myself doing that and times I think opposite the whole table that is betting very big I usually sideline.

Played with them many times.  In the Midwest as well as Vegas or A.C.

The highest majority of them, will normally just throw up their 'smaller' or table 'min' wager and be done with it.  Lots of class.  Then they don't rub it in to the other players if they prevailed unless they are friends with them of course, then all's fair.

The one local place that does offer Midi around here, like I said almost all of the players there would tell the dealer to open their cards.  The few that don't would casually flop them pretty quick.  Once ina while there is a player that will make a scene as you suggested.  It's all good, no one is changing the outcome anyways.  We rubbed them if we know them about doing it.

Early last year we were in Vegas and my wife and I at one Midi table and we opened by ourselves and I was winning no matter what I did.  I was yelling and screaming of course, we were up substantially and I do mean substantial, and these two people, one female and one male would continually come over from their reserved table they were playing at.  Each time they would look where I had my wager and bet the opposite side, every time, easily more than 10 times.  They would stand, never sitting down, anyway and the dealer would not give them the cards in that case.  Almost every time they lost.  Eventually they stopped coming over.

The games with real camaraderie between most of the players have been my best games with the largest wins ever.  Those of you on-line playing and playing at stadium or machine style baccarat have no idea.

At the places I play at and have played at, the ones wagering the min and squeezing hard against players with large wagers, generally are not playing a lot of hands anyways.  The ones with real class and any friendship generally won't do it and if they do because they really believe in that side, they generally tell the dealer to open the cards as I already mentioned. Personally, I try not to believe in people as it tends to wreck my focus on what the shoe is actually producing, unless there is complete and real camaraderie for certain sections of a shoe producing something several of us believe in and we are winning several in a row. (And no, that kind of play does not change cards or make us wager on the winning side, but it does allow us to wager larger and maybe just go for it, rather than watching it all fly by).

I have been on better behavior of late, but I swear to F the next time a player lays into a dealer for no valid reason or even flips out overboard, I'm so wanting to go back to my previous way of situation management.  Most get the whole this and that rituals of the game, but the cards don't change.

Pro driver bro flips the hell out on the dealer that comes in for unspecified reason (I won't mention) then taps out on a couple bad plays.  Missed a very strong shoe with a lot of cherry. I didn't weigh in, and I actually wish he played the shoe because he most likely would have led.  This is why I want to let go and lead.

Every house has players that are out of line as all hell that somehow are getting away with it.  I have a track record of siding with the correct position and stepping in on that side very hard.  I have a number on my list, but have been biting through my tongue.  Ready to unload.  Very easy to catch them in the act and have management deal with it though.

Thoughts?

If you play the new Fusion baccarat/blackjack/roulette computer game by IGT or Scientific games........they use a real dealer and you enter the bets on a terminal without any chips.

Eliminates the following:

1. People constantly coloring up or buying in and waiting for a supervisor to verify the amount.
2. Eliminates slow/obnoxious dealers ...dealers are usually on other side of the casino ( connected using wifi ) and they have to deal the cards or spin the wheel every 25 seconds.
3. Eliminates 99.9 % of dealer mistakes ( taking extra card in bac etc etc )
4. Eliminates dealer payoff mistakes in bac and roulette and blackjack.
5. Eliminates cheating (past posting bets,    dealer / player collusion etc )
6. Eliminates dealer having to calculate banker commission after each banker baccarat bet and  having to collect banker commissions at end of the shoe
7. Plays each bac hand in 25 seconds.......eliminates 8 players staring at each other and picking their noses for 5 minutes at a regular bac table trying to decide what to bet on.
8. Players can sit almost the entire shoe without any bad looks from the dealer or supervisor

That is only in a select few markets.

On the positive side of the regular game, no matter what, when the camaraderie is correct, the sky is the limit.  been there countless times into the tens of thousands win--with no where near large front money or buy ins.  But it is an element that cannot be forced or created without the correct aura as well as atmosphere.
