NOTE: (This was originally posted in my Blog on November 2014, I deleted it when I was pissed and chastised for what I have posted, whatever, now 2 members have emailed it back to me, as evidently they saved it????, and asked me to re-post it, so I will)

After about 3 decades of gambling, I learned something many others have not or do not desire to practice.

Buying in again is only going to throw good money after the already spent money as they say.  The highest majority of the times, with me any ways, my friends and what many seasoned dealers say, if the player was going to win, they would have done it from the start or nearly the start of the session.  I would keep winning no matter what I did.

So the past 5 years or a bit more, I take only to the casino what I want to risk/play/lose, etc.

If I buy in again or buy in say two times, I generally do not win for the session and get up only to around the highest point as I did prior to losing anyways.  Up and down can be good or bad.

Bottom line as you guys will not admit, you do need a certain amount of 'luck' or 'timing' to really take off and win and keep it going.  You just won't admit that because 'luck' to you is so unintelligent and non-scientific.  You guys remind me of forensic criminal scientists at a possible murder scene and all scrambling to find the cause of the murder but there is no visible weapons or witnesses at the scene and you quickly conclude suicide and block out all other possibilities.  But if you all just looked a bit overhead into the large tree, you might just observe a monkey holding a small pistol laughing.

I will spell it out for you guys--whenever I had nice wins (and plenty of those too) they were
almost always from the start.  Be it, I do not play for a small set amount daily, like $300 or $500 equating to 3 to 5 units or whatever.  I never had to re-buy in again and again.  Out of all the times I  re-bought in I know turned with the majority of them, to be losing trips.  I count trip by trip, not on-going.  A trip today is either a lose or a win.  Has nothing to do with a trip next week or in 2 weeks.

What many of you fail to really understand is your very own plateaus and ability and windows in winning values, period.

P.S.  Todays thought.  Looking back on re-buy in's.  That is tough to do and I rather walk out losing my initial risk money every single time rather than another buy-in that trip/session.  The walk to the car sucks and the stomach feeling sucks also.  But I know in my heart and soul, the ATM or Credit Card withdrawals would only add insult to the injury and the highest majority of the times, I would have lost that on top of the initial current lost buy-in.  If you got even that would be lucky and very risky, extremely risky.  I wholeheartedly believe years of play will instill more common sense into a player and you learn your play and how the casino operates.   Please note, I do not buy in for $100.00 each time carrying $1,000.00, etc., and plan on 10 buy in's and all that garbage like many do.  It is a one time buy in with the risk money for the session/trip unless it is a Vegas or Atlantic City extended trip. And as some on here are heavily preaching about losing and then taking a break and getting even, that is hogwash and in the long run you will become devastated and hurt bad.  Lose is lose and win is win.  If you are playing to get even, that is a short term and very temporary status and possibility.  Play to win, if you lose take the loss, it has served me well.  You make up your own mind and work on your 'winning plateau', only you know what that is.  Playing to get even does harm to the mental gambling thoughts, you get programmed to stop.

RIGHT ON!!  I have almost always played that way.  Early on, when I did re-buy, sometimes I recouped my money but most times it just added to my loss.  I no longer re-buy ever.

soxfan

I buy in for 120 unit and I have enough to cover two more progression busts. If you get clipped you have to come over the time for another buy-in, hey hey.

alrelax

Progressions and parlays should be made from win money or at least almost all from win money anyway.  That way, one would not need a 120 unit bankroll to risk.

What difference does it make if a cat burns through three buy-in over three consecutive day or if he burns through three buy-in over the course of one day/session? If yer gonna get clipped yer gonna get clipped and it is that simple! I've got a thousands units backin my play and my whole roll is in play at all times, hey hey.

Work on your English a tad bit and then your posts will be easier to read, sorry not trying to be insulting but it's true. Hey hey, here here, he he

Also, you have mentioned something about your progression but no bet placement, no type of table spread your casino offers, their limits, etc. So, it's really hard to believe anything you say. Again, no offense to you but I provide substance, I tell specifics. I speak in facts, not tongues..........

The properties around my local area are $10/$2,000.00 and you are absolutely allowed to wager on others hands as long as they place your wager and under their table max.

As far as the others, you really don't have to read, comment or come in here to degrade and chastise.  Kind of like skipping a channel you really don't care for on your cable.  Really, the exact same thing.

Sure, I don't play and I don't do anything.  We can say you are right.  Thanks, I would sincerely f you can stay out of my threads, I don't attempt to humiliate you.

Disagree, if I go to the casino with 200 base units, I am not going to buyin with 200 units, firstly you might look like a minge bag betting low with so much money on the table. It also adds mental pressure knowing what you have bought in for, is your bankroll.

Much better to buy in for say 60 base units, see what I can grind out and I  can do with that.   If needed re-buyin, play at a bigger chip level to recoup, bet more aggressive at the same chip level, whatever.  I prefer not to advertise / announce what I have brought to the casino just to fit in at the table, or for the staff's curiosity.  There is too much nonsense chip stack, bet level  size that takes place at the tables .  Separate buyin's also present a mental pause, the act of actually having to take money out of your wallet.  Three buyin's would be my max...

I really don't care what any casino staff member thinks.  I would never ever try to impress anyone or any staff at a table, those days were left back in the 90' s at Atlantic City.

As far as the buy in's.  I seriously think mental pressure works better for me and lots I know, when we do the buy in at one time.  It is what you are working with in front of you.  The better part comes from adding to it and locking up the winnings, rather than risking the winnings and having, 'to make it work', etc.

I personally would not go to a local property and bring say $600 and plan on a 3 time buy in at $200 a time.  Although, it is the same thing.  I am trying to drive the point, the $600 is the max for the trip, no ATM, no borrowing from your other budgets, no cash advances, no check cashing, etc.  Most don't do it either the one time buy-in or the multiple times buy-in for the initial and supposedly only buy-in that trip.  They will deplete their available cash levels on their CC's and other avenues in desperation to re-coup their loss.  That is what I am driving to.

Thanks, for your reply, have a great day.

Oh come on, no one knows what you have in your pocket.  I play next to people that buy in for $100 or $10,000.00 at a $10/$2,000.00 table every week.  I play next to people that repeatedly buy in one week for $300 at a time and she usually brings well over $10k.  Others buy-in for $50.00 or $100.00, they win they stay, they lose they leave.  The same ones that always bring $10k or even $20k, might only have $500.00 or $1,000.00 in their pocket or purse for a time or two.  Seriously.

Some of the same.  As far as the show off with chip stacks, I do have great relations with Asians, whom I am thoroughly familiar with, wife is, x-wife is, my business partner is, etc.

Many of the ones around here that were sitting with their huge chip stacks are now in federal prison for RICO, Criminal Enterprises, Money laundering, gang related serious cases, etc., and other major criminal charges.  Many of them, that is the punch line.

But in all seriousness, we try (TRY) not to fall into that rut with the largest chip stack holder or bettor at a table.  Play your own game.  Sure (100%) at times, there is friendships and other kinds of respect, I also would sacrifice making a much smaller wager at times when those things come into play, if I knew or was acquainted with the person. However at times I don't and others I know do not.  The way we would handle it at a Midi table would be, not to turn over our cards, let the dealer do it.

I recently switched from local place with Midi (players taking the cards) to another property with the same limits (dealer only handling cards) for that same reason.

No offense at the Asian reference, a fact.

What is comical now at most places, is the casino host plays the liaison when the SAR needs to get filled out and sent in.  I love hearing the explanations from the players.

Huge Difference!  The difference is that sessions/days change.  Anyone that has gambled long enough (and the key here....is admitting the absolute truth) is that when you can't win this trip, next trip is a better chance or at least another chance.  The whole point that almost everyone of you miss-some do admit that a player cannot win on certain days no matter if you had millions is a suitcase next to you.....but many of you are so frigging stubborn that you won't say I am correct.  And fact is, almost all players that lose their bankroll for a trip, if they buy in again, the lose that one also.

The few times a subsequent buy in will generate you some profit, you will never make up all those buy-in's from previous trips that your original bankroll failed and you bought in and bought in and bought in, only to lose almost everyone of those subsequent buy ins.

Absolutely.  However, I see the serious 'cats' each and every time I go to the local places.  All but one of them continually buys in and buys in as they deplete their bankrolls.  I would say a low of $5k to a high of $15k each one.  By far, greater than 50% of their sessions they lose if they depleted their bankrolls they originally bought in with.  Most are so far in the red, they could never make it up.  Funny though how they all seemed to be 'serious cats' for less than a couple of years.  Most of them are now to the point where they are paying the 10% to the casino loan shark that hangs around, for the serious cats-that is.
