I think this ties into what a lot of players consider so please bear with it.

Easy Panda doesn't give a hit.  They know that given their skill level, bank roll, and bet size, they have good odds of hitting X amount of profit within a few hours.  They are all about lifestyle.  In, play well, and out.   They set a modest target and go for a more definite result.

Hard Dragon doesn't give a hit either.  They know that given their skill level, bank roll, and bet size, they have good odds of doing very well on average, but may incur much higher risk.  They are all about in it to win it and being very aggressive.  Their sessions last much longer and are much more difficult, but they are clocking in a much different level of performance.  Sometimes they get smacked hard, but they know on average they win back.

I want to be Hard Dragon, but Easy Panda looks very tempting.   IT IS SO HARD HITTING A TIGHT STOP AND THEN JETTING when you have so many player brother and sisters that are Hard Dragon.

Any recommendations for weak starts?  I am most often having a rough go versus later on in the session.  Clearly, it is better to advance from the onset.

AsymBacGuy - applogies.  I was creating a name for two types of players...  Easy Panda does what it takes and goes for winning a solid average whereas Hard Dragon goes all out and presses to achieve a higher level or performance, but with much more variance.

Ok, np.

Yet Panda bets must overcome a 10% negative edge than Dragon bets (nearly 7%).

Cheers

To clarify further, Easy Panda and Hard Dragon are just names I made up for players not the actual Panda and Dragon high payout bet.  If you think about it Pandas tend to carry on a certain way towards life as opposed to dragons that are wild and aggressive.

I do not know what region or country you are from, but in all my years of playing, I think the highest majority of Asians, Whites Americans (sorry almost no native or blacks play baccarat) and Europeans I have known outside the casino as well, are all pretty darn aggressive in their personal and business lives.

This is for Atlantic City, South Florida (Seminole), Southern California (Pala-Pechanga, Aqua G and Morongo), the Midwest 3 or 4 states I am familiar with and Mississippi as well.  Throw in Foxwoods and M. Sun from all the years I played there, except since 2013.

As far as knowing one's skill level, once again, I wholeheartedly believe and know, somewhere north of 99% do not and even if they did, it all goes out the door when they are at the table.

Played numerous properties in Las Vegas, Reno, Southern California, Atlantic City, Connecticut, South Florida, The South/Southeast as well as most areas of The Midwest.

Baccarat, actually a mixture of Watergate, attacking the Gotti Family and the famous ear biting Tyson fight leading to disqualification and a near riot.  Bac has all that & more.

Yes which is why Easy Panda can be so achievable.   Being Easy Panda does not mean it won't take skill or doing the right thing, but some players play far too aggressively.

Taking Easy Panda tonight and I hate it.   Could have managed money above trailing stop better.

Absolutely.  Bank/ Player is the foundation of the game, and you want to go hard in the paint on that.  That is, if you don't win a single high payout bet in a session, you still do well or at least hold ground.  You put some into high payout bets consistently and they do hit.  I am finding more and more it's all about play correct and play many hands on a winning basis which is a problem if you are bank roll limited and step up to the midi where they are squeezing the hell out of every card.

Some shoes might have only 1 or 2 high payout bet wins, period.  Others are like a windfall...

This thread is to address the challenge that most every player faces.  You can set your sights for a solid batting average and score a good amount consistently - Easy Panda.  Or you can really press like a Hard Dragon and go for much more, but you may experience more volatility in your performance.

Without disclosing, last night I had two ridiculous opportunities to continue on for a Hard Dragon session, but as I was playing above my trailing stop point I just couldn't advance so I called it.  Had I done a couple things a little differently, my bulldog would have had Porterhouse and Guinness later that night.

Every play is important, but as we all know players are more vulnerable after a hot streak and advancing with win. We are more likely to get jammed in tricky parts of the shoe and give back.  That is why at least holding ground and fighting hard after a big jump higher in win is so critical.  Otherwise you should hit that trailing stop and force yourself to close out - I guess.

Either of the two are hard for the beginners. Can you find other games for you to play. I cannot suggest anything to you since I don't even know where do you play.

soxfan is a very experienced baccarat player.  From postings, I believe he has a Bank/ Player bet strategy with no allocation to high payout bets.
