Title: Mental Road Blocks
Post by: alrelax on July 05, 2016, 02:47:56 PM
Be real careful how you play!

There are only three ways: 1) Play to Win; 2) Play to get even; and 3) Play to Lose.

Be really careful of what seems to be preached here, 'Play to get even'.  That will hurt you beyond belief.

Playing to get even "will stop" you from eventually winning, especially when the opportunities and the chances are there or do come.  You will have already instilled mental road blocks in yourself, real bad ones.

You cannot play to get even and also win.  It cannot happen and that is what a lot of you have done to yourselves.

Have a winning or a losing trip/session.  You cannot continue safely and then win once you get back to even, it will haunt you!  It does to the highest darn majority anyways.   What will happen is this.  You will continue to play to get even once you sense you are losing.  Meanwhile after time, you will have instilled a false sense of security something along the lines of, 'I can keep playing and if I don't win I can always get even and leave'.  Which will cost you many fold you bankroll most trips rather than winning and dealing with your win money in a sensible manner with realistic expectations and goals.

You will ultimately convince yourself subconsciously you cannot win really and the best there is at the game, is to get even.  You will then wind up getting even or losing almost all the time.

It takes opportunities, chance, guts and losses.  You will not win if you don't lose.  Playing to get even is the wrong road, seriously.
