Title: Mental State
Post by: Garfield on January 25, 2016, 05:23:17 PM
Let's discuss something else here. Many of the topics always about BS, MM, Stats etc etc. Those are the "Hardware". How about the "Software" then? Soft pink tissue inside this thick skull of ours.

So, as I observed the poll mostly said the cause of losing we experienced because of this mental state. Panic, out of  etc etc . Even with the bs or mm that we have faith in it, I believe when things get tough, everything will change.

So, mind to share your experience here? How to handle the "chimp" as LungYeh stated?

Thx,

Confidence plays a big part. But not false confidence or bravado. That will only get you your behind handed to you on a plate. Real confidence comes from knowing your game and that you can remain calm whatever the wheel or cards may throw at you. So let's throw in composure and consistency as well. They are all interlinked to be honest. One compliments the other. Without those three C's, you will have a hard job staying afloat for very long.

With clear mind and preferably with the casino's money after your bank roll has been replenished.  Then the attack and retreat mode is much clearer and fruitful, IMO.

I assure you that clarity of mind is attainable if you set guidelines . Did you ever see 'A Beautiful Mind' by Ron Howard?

"John Forbes Nash, Jr. was an American mathematician who made fundamental contributions to game theory, differential geometry, and the study of partial differential equations."

If he could ignore the demons inside I assure you that we can.

I know: "I met John Nash, and you are no John Nash" Stolen from a famous moment in Presidential debate.

We should actually consider looking at his game theory ideas to see if they apply to our favorite sport.

I think I will. It can't be as hard as Cosmology, the study of facial makeup and products for beauty.  ;)

I loved that guy. He was really down to earth. The show was great too.

This is very important, fellow players! Most players go crazy after a few losing hands. They wanted to get the win back right away. This is where your mental state comes in, please stay calm and regroup your thought before starting to wager your hard earned money again.
Yes, it's easier said than done for me!! I am learning everyday.. Good luck!!

Most people can't or won't deal with when a recovery will occur or  for how much it will occur. Stay cool, let what you want come to you.

A share from me.

Players who mostly play for cut, ususally because they "missed" the bus. And when the streaks/chop continues, they afraid at the moment they follow, it will end. Maybe because of past experience. Thus, they keep bet for cut, bigger and bigger, thinking "this won't last forever, at some point I will win etc etc"

We know how this would end.
