#1)  I know the soup is not Chicken soup, period.  Doesn't matter if I had some drinks or not.  I never get to the point I am 'out of my mind' within the casino if I drank.  Mute issue.

#2)  They players can play anyway they choose to, I do also.  I have style and I have my ways.  It is like trying to rebuild the George Washing Bridge or The Golden Gate Bridge, can't be done.  I can't be changed.

#3)  I won't pick up a shoe and throw it in the middle of the pit, unless I know the pit people and staff rather well.  And then, only if the dealer really deserved it.

I was just giving you a hard time about the soup.

Of course I only just gave out my opinion about the players here. I do see a big difference in their playing styles and their playing attitudes. Most of everyone is civil to one another.
I am a little surprised that you have played the game for so long but you have not run into a few baccarat pros? Maybe those pros are only playing at the regular tables vs the high limit ones? I play mostly at the regular tables. Those pros don't win all the time but at the end of the month, they have money to pay their bills. I know one in my area. I know him pretty well. His name is John. The last time I saw him, he  was raising his daily winning goal from $200 to $250 per day. There were days that he had to cut the losses and went home. He has his losing days but he limited his losses.
I have played with him so many times but I lose most of the time because by then I had no patience and my discipline was bad.
I have also seen many players losing everything too. Myself included. I have lost a lot of money. This forum has given me all the tools as well as the skills to tackle this game.
Playing baccarat since 2004. No one size fits all strategy to win consistently.

Okay, let me set some things straight for the record.

I don't believe I ever said, "someone cannot play for a living".  But let's define that.  A living.  What type and how comfortable?  How much is need, $600.00 a month, $2,600.00 a month or $9,000.00 a month.  Huge differences and styles, etc.  But back to the base core question.  Yes, it can be done in moderation for a while, IMO.  Forever, I kind of doubt it.  I think solely on the grounds of burn out and over indulgence and trying to pump it up, will the player playing--fall prey at some time to his own downfall and demise.

But don't forget Ted, I grew up in South Florida during the height of the 'Miami Vice' days where gun battles, car chases, good guys going bad and bad guys becoming ruthless--was a totally reality and an every day event in all three counties of South Florida.  So, my point is, being able to live on $400.00 a month around Highway 441 in Hollywood, Florida turns into $4,000.00 a month moving east of Federal highway around A1A in Fort Lauderdale or Pompano Beach, etc.  Then real quick it turns into $24,000.00 a month to sustain the cars, the ocean front condo or house, the multiple women, the cocaine, the night clubs and the casinos and the person in question is now situated in Turnberry Isle or Key Biscayne, or even Royal Palm Beach, etc., etc.  Now those couple of hands of baccarat to sustain himself, turns into a few shoes everyday he has to prevail at.

So, for the record, it can be done and yes I seen many do it.  I never did as I always, (ALWAYS) had some type of legit or side-ways almost legit employment that always funded my personal life and money to gamble with, within reason.  But for the record, in moderation and reasonableness, if the player absolutely becomes a robot and controls all his 'whim's' as they come, yes he can do it for a while.

I have seen many try it and everyone of them failed after a while.  Some a lot sooner than others and some lasted a good bit.  But they all committed failure in the long run.

What I am trying to say, 'Baccarat Pros' is a very subjective term/name.  Someone playing to make $100.00 at a $10.00 table and coming in with a $500/$1,000 buy-in and a $5,000 bank roll, yes, has a chance.  But when he raises that amount he requires to win, to say--$1,000.00 a day, it becomes another story.

I have always said, "Baccarat, the easiest game to win and the easiest game to lose".  I mean that and there is no one that can say different.

The person that wins $1,000.00 today and tomorrow and the next day and for 10 other days is the same person that will lose it and much more trying to win it again and again and again.  My numbers in the last sentence are not definitive, they could mean exactly the numbers I stated or they could be changed to 3 months or 6 months, etc.

Ted, please research South Florida from the 1970's and the 1980's.  The "Miami Vice Days".

Where the Metro Dade Police Department (The Dade County Sherriff's Office) had to relax their hiring protocols of no arrests for police office candidates to eventually accepting candidates with felony convictions to become a Metro Dade Police Officer.  No one wanted to become a police officer because of the easy money in the drug trade all around, everywhere in South Florida at the time.

So my point is, the same as baccarat, nearly everyone caught themselves in the long run.  If someone like a police officer ripped off a drug dealer once or twice, he probably would have gotten away with it.  But once you feel that $5k or $10k or $50k or $100k in your hands when you make $350.00 a week (don't forget this is back in the 1970's) you will do it more and more and more and more.  Until you either have an Uzi put at your head and opened fire or the FBI slaps the cuffs on you.  It happened repeatedly and untold times.  Not just with police officers, but with nearly everyone else in every walk of life in South Florida.

Sitting at a baccarat table making $100.00 a day is fine.  But for how long will it last. Oh, I los three days and need my $300.00.  Here comes my chance ad instead of wagering my $25.00 I will do $300 just one time and get it back............................................then a losing streak of 12 times and the player is now done $3,600.00 and the pressure just set in.  Said he would never do that, but he did and it happens more than you and me think it does, worldwide.

As far as the soup, I already know what you have planned, sorry---but it won't work.  Now as far as monkey balls you can't tell them from meatballs in my pasta and you will show the proper respect and eat my pasta at our family dinner.  And I might just replace the meatballs with the Cambodian favorite, monkey balls in your bowl.  >:D

I have heard about this story. Thanks for sharing. I only play at Nagaworld and Holiday Palace Casinos. I like the Holiday Palace better.
My source at the Holiday Palace informed me that from time to time, he said there is always someone or group of people trying to cheat. They all got caught.

Ted, you kind of remind me of a guy I used to have as a 'casino friend' as well- we knew each other in New York City for years back in the late 80's and throughout the 90's.  We played so many times together at the old Bally's Grand, I can not even envision to guess how many nights/ times we played baccarat together in Atlantic City.  I would say it has to be in the hundreds though.

I wrote briefly about him in some of my posts and his name was Mr. 'Y', he was Japanese and his wife used to always have a little stuffed giraffe sticking out of her purse up on the padded railing of the baccarat table. LOL, what times was those!  Quickly thinking back, Larry Holmes was in the high limit room and would constantly be screaming, 'Hit me Hit me, I can take it' to the blackjack dealer where he was playing within feet of the big baccarat tables.  He would say to us at the baccarat table, we don't know how to count the cards and how come a blackjack didn't instantly win, etc.

Ted, I found the piece I wrote :o about Bally's Grand and one time with some of the players I used to regularly play with there, here is the reference to My. Y I made in the above post.
