3 Ratios of the Shoe:

1)  Strong Ratio.  Controlled creation and appearance.  Obvious, sectioned and distinctive formation of patterns.  Strong, whether that is repetitive or weak or anything in-between, just once again, numerous occurring event within a section.  I have won more money of these than anything and likewise, learned to stop when they stop, unlike most players.  My own desire would be old school, is to follow it and lose only my last wager when I was triggered bu the presence of the ratio.

2)  Sound Ratio.  Equally orderly response.  Everything happening in-between, the above and the below two ratios.

3)  Background Ratio.  Continuous Probability.  Swing to even out, not much longevity of anything, but necessary and always has to happen best defines by regression to the mean.  The most dangerous and hardest wagers to be successful on.

Understanding:  The ability to understand the shoe you are playing.  Easier said than done! 

Background & Understanding:  Everything creeping up, more so than direct up front.  Complicated by the player being frustrated, aggravated and clouded.

Presentments:  Formation and everything else being presented from the shoe.  All reality, all actual, nothing in pretense or possibilities.  The player's ability to recognize it and stop trying to change the shoe and continually wagering for what he wants rather than just going along with the shoe.

Directions: Giving up the one sided one tracked mind of the average player.  'North' and literally subscribing to and believing in all directions, N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW.

Once you get serious and really desire to be a successful baccarat player, you will realize the game is not about approaching it from one direction, let's say that us from the 'North'.  The was more successful players approach it is from 8 different directions at once, North-Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West and Northwest.

Psych
Beliefs
Dependency on other players or against them
Money Management
Buy-in Adherence
Progressions
Parlays
Recognition of sections/turning points and shoe ratios
Risk of ruin, variations, house advantages, etc.
Other wagering techniques and strategies.

Good players also 100% understand the following as well:

The shoe and its presentments
Sections
Turning Points
Formations
Time Played
Other non-controlled player quagmires.

This is vague and figurative speech. Can you give us some concrete examples of how you approach the game from all directions? And why is it superior to attacking from one direction?

Within my Blog and/or the Baccarat sections I have gave examples.  Once again.  Thinking the same protocol and beliefs each and every time a player gambles will only win him/her profit when the shoe converts to what they are desiring and wishing for.  You generally don't want to hear this and you generally don't believe me, so I don't put much emphasis and power into explanations.  But I seriously have defined and explained.

Further for a quick couple of minuets. 'Directions'.  Banker to catch up, Player to catch up.  Naturals to cut, naturals to stick.  Ties to cut, ties to stick.  1's-2's and 3's--3's-2's and 1's.  Then the opposite of those 'V's.  1's and 3's.  Pairs--terrible twos.  Clusters of strong and clusters of weak.  Etc., etc., etc., and so on. 

I play with a wide varied assortment of people/players with tons of beliefs.  People win and people lose because  of different agendas and actions.  I am not going to get into those, we all know what I am referring to.  However, I have defined years ago, the 'direction' thing I state.  It goes beyond having an open mind or trying to remember and stay conscious that anything can happen, etc. 

Like I briefly pointed out in the second paragraph here, there are numerous 'titles' to things that identify what is happening, what could happen, what happened, etc., etc.  Players that wait for a certain thing or two is what I call 'direction' which is also their approach, their modus operandi.  When a player sits and attempts to catch a 'chop-chop' and nothing but--he is approaching the game from one direction IMO and only IMO.  When a player sits there and wagers on Players after natural or a strong cluster of whatever and he is also wagering for the shoe to equal out where it was 40 Bankers and 18 Players, he is approaching it from 2 directions.  There are other factors of approchment involved, but that is basically what I address as 'directions'.   

When a player sits and attempts to catch 'chops', playing for the evening/equaling out, playing for the one side excelling and staying strong/streaking, playing for the terrible twos, playing for the hands producing with a clear and consistent evidentiary result of point values, etc., etc., etc.  I am not referring to 1 or 2 or even 3 hands.  I am referring to clusters of 10-20 if not a greater amount.  Clear sections and turning points.  They do exist and they are frequent, not a once in a rare event.  Players just don't have the experience or the belief in the many many events and why sections are produced and surface the way they are.  And yes, a lot has to do with further things such as, the statistical numbers of the game.  That is where 'directions' come about.

It also has to do with the fact that the shoe does not always equal out or produce what is needed for the 'direction' to surface.

I have tried to explain it, IMO multi faceted.  Asym has wrote about this as well, might not use the term I do, 'direction', but that term helps me write and label 'events' that all reflect this very thing.

Might touch on it from a easier to understand viewpoint, but the same, IMO. 

It might happen, anything.  Then again--it might not happen.  The statistical odds/percentages cannot be used/employed like clockwork to profit without losing a larger sum of money first if you are applying it and reapplying it with mechanical protocol.

 have posted before shoes with some mark-ups.  I usually addressed the 'sections' and 'turning points' and some annotations regarding point values.  Everything is not on the cards by far.  But some is.  I have a shoe I scored and kept from last week, I will get it in a little bit and shot a picture of it and post it.

I have mentioned before that to really make baccarat a profitable long term venture, one has to treat it as a business. Having said that, it doesn't mean every businessman would be a long term success.

I am just wondering amongst the esteemed members here, who are actually in business or have owned or started or managed a business?  As in baccarat as in business, does not a businessman eat, sleep and breathe the business? The way Glen describes his business, it's a 24/7 preoccupation and it is not unique for the majority of businessmen.

So just because baccarat is gaming and you decide to treat it as a business, why is it taboo to be consumed with it 24/7? In fact, I think it is a prerequisite for possible success.

I have seen people who loves to bet against trends and occasionally they make money during the random phases but where trending is strong, they are decimated. Then there are players who live on trends and who will lose during the random phase.

As espoused in my yet to be validated book, (which I have passed on to some of you to review and comment on) I tend to ride on patterns. If it continues, dare to win. If it is doesn't continue, be scared to lose. Bet smaller and if you continue to lose, revert to unit bets. The name of the game is to protect the bankroll and the winnings. Set the arbitrary rules. We are playing against the whole team, the casino, the supervisor, the dealer, the floor manager etc etc. If we need help to adhere to the rules, bring along an associate to help you follow the arbitrary rules (betting smaller as you lose. Negative progression. Restraints from placing bets etc etc).

To win boils down to 'Dare to win in the Hot Phase and scared to lose in the Killing Phase. Bet selection wins or losses depends on which phase you are in. When you are hot you are hot. Whatever you bet you win. Similarly in the Killing Phase it is equally unbelievable that whatever you bet you lose.

I used to be floored, absolutely stumped by the 'easiness' and the 'dumbfoundedness' of the first time bac players--passerby's that would sit down, play and repeatedly win with no clue as to even how to play.  Of course, they were not 'figuring' it all out and applying statistical percentages as well as second guessing the shoe and all that stuff--they repeatedly win and win and yet-the experienced players are berating them and wagering against the newbie with great heart and soul.

I remember back at Bally's Grand in Atlantic City, (I wrote about this on the board here somewhere) and we are talking the 1990's, the early 90's, in the high limit room, the big 14 seat tables with the 3 dealers at each one.  Everyone dressed nice (as we all were in those days--no hoodies, no jeans, no tee shirts in the high limit rooms, LOL) anyways--young kids sits down with a motorcycle helmet, denim 1980's jacket and jeans and says, 'hey guys, what is this game about'?  We all looked at each other and there was some funny faces as well as laughter.  I just remember the kid getting the shoe and we followed him and he banged out like 15 banks or something and every where he put his money, simply won.  He kept throwing the chips inside of his helmet on his lap. 

As well--the experienced player sides with and gets continually sucked in by the other experienced players and still cannot realize what just happened and what he 'banked' on to control and change the shoe.
