I pass a Casino property all the time for the past 10 years, never ever stepping foot inside one time. It is about halfway of a 300 mile or so trip I frequently make. Last week I decided for a short rest break and I was right about at the interstate exit for this particular casino property I'm referring to.

Although they do not have baccarat they have a few blackjack tables. And it's been a long time since I've played blackjack anywhere. This property has low table limits of course, $10-$500 max per hand. One table had two people playing in seats number three and four and I sat down in seat number two. I bought in for $500. Decided on two wagers, one for $200 and my second wager would be $300. Someone else immediately sat down in seat number one and bought in for $60. The other two people had about $100 or so in red chips they were playing with.

All I wanted to do was win a couple of wagers.  I wasn't thinking thousands by any means.

I put two black chips up and dealer announces, black in play. The others had about $10-$30 wagers. First seat gets two face cards. I get a five and a two, and the others get a Blackjack and a 19.  Dealer was showing at 10. I pulled a face card and of course I stand. Dealer exposed the bottom card and it was a six and she pulls a three. One of the others pushed and the other two won.  Of course I lost.

My second hand. Threw up the $300 and the others are wagering a small amount of red chips. First seat gets a 9 and a 2 and I get a 10 and a 5, seat three gets two face cards and seat four gets an 18 or 19, I forget which one. Dealer has a face card. Checks for an ace and it's not there. First seat doubles down and gets a 10. I pull, get a nine and bust of course. The other two stand. Dealer exposes her bottom card which is a seven.  Whatever, all good.  Rest break cost me $1,000.00.

I walked out. But, before I get to my car I stopped. Think a bit. A good full minute of standing there, seriously. Walked back in and go to their electronic blackjack machine, a small one with a digital dealer. Never played one before. I put $200 into it. Tell myself, that's it and this is the absolute max, if I lose I learned. I really don't like blackjack.

Started betting like $60 first hand.  Won and doubled up and won again. Won the third hand as well.  Cut down, lost the fourth. Long story short, I am winning like three or four out of five bets. I get up to about $900 and then go down to $500 in the next few hands. Got back up to $900 and pulled the ticket out of the machine and I was now down a total of $300. Thought a bit and reached back into my pocket and pulled out $300 additional money and put it back into the friendly machine.

Lost my first two wagers of $100 each. The last $100 wager out of the $300 I get a Blackjack.  Seriously, someone in the digital world likes me and is trying to suck me in!  Won a couple of wagers and then got another blackjack again and my balance was now $580.

I cashed out. My rest break now cost me only $20 and finding out how a low limit small property likes to only pay red chips at the table and not black ones.

I do not like blackjack.

Baccarat, actually a mixture of Watergate, attacking the Gotti Family and the famous ear biting Tyson fight leading to disqualification and a near riot.  Bac has all that & more.
