  • Friend. I support the self-moderating of topics by the authors . And this comes from a user who has suffered the consequences of having multiple messages deleted by the moderator on duty.

The advantage of being able to clean your own threads exceeds the disadvantages of having deleted messages you can post in another thread . This is not evident until someone posts a message that does not cause action by the moderators but you do have the right to remove so that there is no damage to your topic.

Some messages do not violate the forum rules but are made with malice or simply published to interrupt the flow of your thread.

I have never liked "self moderation" or the ability of the thread author to delete messages immediately and without recourse.

But then, I've been in the minority on that point ever since I've been here.

why not feature two views of the topics? 1. normal view 2. edited view.

In normal view everything as usual while edited view displays a public record that says: "A" was changed to "B" on the date "C" . Message entries removed by author marked with a link leading to the removed post contents. Thus deniability is avoided.

People go with default settings so they will only change view for controversial topics.

  • Deletion of messages is absolute non sense.  While I understand why one would like to modify messages, if used as a wrong weapon it completely take the fun out of the forum.

Wannawin I am completely with you when one doesn't want to interrupt the flow of topic.  Not only as a writer. But also as a reader.  However there is a difference between moderator and editor.

Instead of posting just a question, a solution as well from my end.  What about a button on the top of the page that says Show editors picks.  The topic starter can be the editor who can chose to exclude a post from that view.  That ways the poster can always control the topic without deletion.  One who wants to follow the thread like the topic starter wNts to follow it can chose this option which will hide unwanted posts. One who would like to see the entire thread can see the entire thread.

  • The forum lacks the option to prevent some recidivists members post to the topics that belong to you.

If each person has a list of users with whom he does not get along, everyone is added and he does not  have to cope with the same members again and again. This will allow the topic flow and not have these annoying fights daily.
