I read once, may of been Dean Sluyter, something I really liked.
It was something like this

You know the period of time that you were asleep last night? The bits you have zero memory about?
that's the real world.

It's actually worse than that because the statement is meaningless. He asserts that the statement "There is no truth. There is only perception." is a TRUE statement, but it contains the statement "There is no truth", so the statement refutes itself. Similarly, if there is ONLY perception, then this is also meaningless, which I think is the point you were trying to make.

When two witnesses to the same event give different accounts (as so often happens) then the quote has a ring of truth -- according to my perception.

That is 100% correct, and it is the perception that hurts people, not anything else about it.

But it is usually always perception and how we each interpret it or attempt to use whatever it is--even outside of gaming when you come to think about it.
