Opinions wanted with a possible reason behind the opinion.


What is the risk one should take to make a buck ?


eg: Risk 1$ for 1$, or Risk  2$ for 1$, or Risk 5$ for 1$ .... you get the point.


What should the RATIO be ?


There's no WRONG answer, so don't be affraid of any comments from others.

IMO.....by far, risk 1u for 1u


Any "odds on" bets can never be played  flat betting.


and, the more "odds on" it gets, 1:2, 1:3....the more insane a progression gets.


You should be able to play flatbet, even if you break even.


A loss should only wipe out your last win, not your last 2, or 3, or 4.


With EC....you can see things are not working and only be 10u down


Where do you decide its not working playing 5 lines?  After 1 loss?

Right off I'd say even chances...

However, 24 numbers flat bet continuously may net a profit.

Depends on you risk threshold and bankroll size.

Buff-mate, you are leaving the biggest one out: how many times you want to achieve the feat.


If you want to expose yourself the least to the house edge, looking for a one-hit-wonder on the even chances should do.

Betting and getting one straight loss on 5 lines sets you back for the whole of the current cycle.

OK ... I'm not getting the answers I'm looking for. Must have confused everyone.

How much $$$ do you RISK to make let's say 100$ ?

Do you RISK 10$ to try to make 100$ or do you RISK 1000$ to try and make 100$.

I don't care about Bet Selection or were to place the bets 1:1 2:1 35:1 ...

Just what  you are RISKING. And why do you feel it necessary to RISK that amount?

I think I understand your question:  How much would/should you risk to win $1.  Let's keep it at that.

For me the answer can be phrased as a question:  How much would you bet to win that dollar if you knew you could not lose?  Since that is totally unrealistic, let's boil it down.

If you would bet $10 to win $1, what is you chance of winning that dollar vs losing the $10?  Suppose you had a system which--over time--won $15 for every single RFH that took your $10.  In essence you are risking $10 with the hope of winning $5.  Is this a good bet?  If you had it, it would be a gold mine!!

While I was typing, the SL bot cooked off another winning session.  There were 19 wins and 11 loses, if memory serves me right.  I will attach the session log.  Each time I play this, I am risking 10 units in hopes of winning 10 units.  If I were to risk 100 units in hopes of winning 10, my win rate would skyrocket.  As it is, it is hovering at around 54%.  Additionally, the volatility is very low so the progression works very well.

Why do I feel it is necessary to risk 10 to win 10?  Simply because it is working.

Hmmm, how much time involved is kind of an issue but for me..... I'll take a 1K NET profit, with a BR of 4K.

Without a decent bet selection and the proper roulette experience, you don't have success, you have a hobby. There is no "Auto Re-bet" button in the ACTUAL world of roulette. You're probably not going to get a definitive answer.

Why?

Because no two punters have the same Comfort Zone.

[The CZ is defined by your:

       
  • personal level of Risk Tolerance
  • the amount of capital you'll play with]
So it's likely you'll get as many varying answers as there will be posters.

One person might be quite happy shelling out, say, 64 to get 1 back.

Another might draw the line at 8!

For me it's the following:


Casino no more 10% of my bankroll per session.
Sports betting no more than 5% of my bankroll.


I have separate bankrolls for Casino and sports betting.


Being doing it this way for years and it has served me well never had a bankroll wiped out.


Like most I learnt the hard way that you have to put some form of control in your gambling endeavours.

Buffster i test this the reverse way.
I intended to flat betting and win +1 or break even +0.
If i did not succeed i let the fibo progression show me what kind of loss i would end up with - showing me the negative expectation or variance.

I run 40 sessions and end up at most with -2 units with highest bet of 3 units.
Then i got some kind of variance indication of the threshold.

At sport betting forums you can read that you should never risk more then 5% of your bankroll.
Sound easy, but is pretty hard to achieve.
