Are you passing up "Pretty Darn Good" to find "Perfect"?

I once heard it said:  Good is the enemy of perfect.  That is, quit at good and you'll never be perfect. You know, sometimes that true.  If our own Shannon Miller had quit at good, she would not be the Olympic champion she is today.  How many others could we say the same thing about?  Hundreds......

But perfect is illusive.  It's like Nirvana.  Maybe it only exists for a few.  Buffet says most are the oyster; few are the pearl.  With me?

How many of you are passing up a money making system--one that loses occasionally but wins in the long run--to find that bet that never loses?  Why do you want that bet that never loses?  Why not be happy with a bet that plods along like a tortoise and beats the hare at the finish line?

Just another TwoCat Ramble...

Quite agree Sam.

I spent 20 years chasing perfection in my line of work, only to find out that NOTHING is perfect.

Now, we just manage the best that we can, and when I see an edge, I try and keep that edge.

How are the bots doing?

It would be good, if U could supply a Weekly/Monthly tally of how they are performing.
No need for the exact system to be described, just something like:-

Bot 1...........Plays an EC game................made $20 this week.........
Bot 2...........Plays an Inside game..........made bugger-all this week.
Bot 3.......................................................man made!

and so on.
When I get my bots running again, I will do the same.

Deep thoughts Sam, thanks for sharing them.

Curiously enough, in gambling, you don't need to be right 100% of the time, just +2.8% as to the odds to grow yourself to riches.

The problem lies in the draw-downs

You are right.  You once said the "Holy Grail" returned your investment plus one unit.  I'll never forget that.  As to the draw downs--a.k.a. dispersion---that is the bane of all players.  The paltry house take is virtually meaningless.  Who ever leaves a casino saying, "Wow!!  I lost 2.7% today!!"

Chris

The bots are doing well.  As soon as it finishes this game, I will pull up the stats and post them.  Here's the thing:  This bot is set to win 11.2 Euro per game.  On the way to doing that, it will literally lose thousands of bets.  About ten bets net is what it takes to win.  So if it runs three hours at one bet per ten seconds---well, do the math.

So the "Holy Grailist" could laugh and say, "Wow, you only win ten bets out of five thousand!!  What a loser!!"  But this loser has gone up 300 Euro this week doing just that.

Sam I can tell you for sure at the casino exit some players wish they had lost 2.7% of what they brought

EDIT:
I don't know why, but I just remembered the "winning" system with the 5-figure draw-downs...

OK, Chris

Here is a screen shot.  I don't know how to make it scroll. But if you look at today, June 1st, you will see I earned around 90 Euro.  On the way to doing that I lost a ton of bets, so it's no "Holy Grail".

I earned this money while cleaning up my yard after a storm and while walking the dogs.  It took about a total of ten minutes to set the bot each four times I ran it.

That last hit for around 31 Euro---that is a "bonus hit".  It is supposed to win 11.2 Euro, but sometimes the stars align just perfectly and it does that before the bot shuts down.

Now--if BV were cheating, would they let that happen?

I'm off to chow down on Mexican food!

Hello Sam,

Glad to see you're doing OK.

Would you say that you have arrived at a workable way to profits. One observation I'll make is that without BV some sessions would be seriously long even with a bot.

Or am I being guilty of the topic heading?

Thanks.  Time will tell if I am on to something or just riding an anomaly.  If it is an anomaly, it is a very long one.

You are right, without a bot and BV this idea would be near impossible.  Much like John's HAR.  The only profitable way it could be played would be to use some large units which would require a very large bankroll--on the order of 5,000 Euro.

Sam if I see your videos, I normally see base bets as the table minimum.  If that's the case the number of units to make up that 90 Eur is quite huge for the hours of play that has gone in.

So probably it's not only with bot or BV. there is definitely an aspect of time spent being proportional to your money bundled, but it need not be achieved thru BV and not essentially thru bot. It depends on what is your preferred way of doing things. I normally spend 3 hrs at a casino in any visit and sometimes even longer. But someone else may not like doing it and see bots as the efficient use of time. Again both of them are not perfect, it is just the way it works for them.

@Sam.  Great rambling. Often in life we stop to seek perfection and try finding an optimum way of doing things that works. My experience says roulette works the same way.  A grail is not the one which wins you every time you play.  It is the one that keeps you consistently above your bankroll's moving average.  To achieve all you need to do is win 2 out of 3 sessions as some one posted earlier out in this forum and set loss limits that you can recover from.  Rest I think the LORD will shape up :) there are so many grails in this very forum. You just have to find them and tune them.  The key is not to tune them to perfection but to the way it works for you!

I think roulette is similar to stock investing......; Rule number one is to protect our dough, cut out losses swiftly when it does not go our way.....; If we can manage to do that profit will take care of it self......as one of the world's greatest investor Mr W.Buffet always say in relation to stock investing.

Guys

Even setting a bot and mowing the yard is a form of work.  I speak for myself, of course.  There is a mental stress involved.  I constantly wonder if I'm down, have I won or lost a session, has BV cut me off and so on.  It is never far from my mind.

Gramps

You know, I enjoy going to the RNG casino a half-hour's drive from us.  I like playing Dane's XOXOX system as you can never lose much if you lose.  (I never have!)  From time to time you meet interesting people.  I love to hear them B.S. me and tell me how much their brother-in-law won last week.  Or some little old lady sitting next to them....

As I sit there, systems float through my mind.  If I could place bets quickly enough there and had a program to select the numbers, I could make some serious money.  As it is, one can barely get their bets down if playing inside.  Wonder if they'd let me install a bot on their console?  Naw, probably not.

It is quite rare--extremely rare--to see 18 numbers without a repeater.  If only I could calculate those last 18 numbers, use a D'Alembert, and get the bets down---well, I'd rarely--maybe once in ten--lose.  If you could win 9 EC bets out of 10....

Aw, listen to me!!  I just gave away a DNHG!!  You watch!!  People will jump on it like a Zebra on a T-bone!

Asthma woke me up!  Just gots to blow in the wind.....

Main difference between stock or currency investing and roulette are fixed odds. If something is fixed it means it has certain limits in some way, right? :)

I like your rule number one and speaking of cutting out, I would cut out here "cut out" and implement "ride out" losses until it doesn't go our way :)

Thing that defines man is patience and persistence when he doesn't have anything, and attitude when he achieved everything :)
