Casinos know that if the average punter had to put a $50 note across the table every time they made a bet, the thought of loss -- based on knowing what that $50 can buy -- would be too great for the majority.

So people would bet a lot less when the realities eventually sunk in as to what they were REALLY betting.

Hence the real reason why they use chips -- it's to suspend reality.

You should have "money reality" in your calculations when making a bet online.

Your thoughts?

that's exactly why they use chips---they are just colored clay things and don't have the same value in peoples minds....

In my casino....many throw 20 notes on black/red and the dealer replaces them straight away with money chips. They do it to make them look like a big-man....peeling five £20 notes off the big wad and throwing it down in a gesture.
We call them "Billy Big Spuds"....cos they think they are a big man with balls.

You can see their ego crumble after 4 losses. No progression....no checking the marque....just BBS's

If there is EVER a question as to whether or not you should be gambling, you should NOT be gambling!  And, yes, I agree about the chips.

There is an old saw:  There is no right way to do a wrong thing.  For some, any form of gambling is wrong.  (Let me say I knew a man who lost his job, wife, child and house over...get ready for it...BASS FISHING!!  Anything that takes the vital money and time from the family is wrong.)

But tell me, isn't there any thought process when they toss down a hundred for the five buck chips?  Maybe not........

Good point..
