Title: How About A Slots Machine Section?
Post by: Proofreaders2000 on August 13, 2013, 09:39:31 AM
Though it would be great to hear opinions about slots online and otherwise.

My vote would be no to that. It's about as mindless as a game can possibly be; there is no bet selection involved at all (and this is, after all, "betselection.cc").

This is after all a gambling forum and i would like to see a slot section, i think it's a great idea ...
I also been thinking to read JP book about 41 existing methods playing slots.

Why would we limit a gambling forum when slots is part of it ...

I foresee a desolated section

The idea is that you can use system with slots as you can with RNG roulette, i don't see any difference ...
I mean hole forum is based upon fallacies, roulette, slots, blackjack, baccarat, sic bo ... so what's the point not having a slot section ? same as any other casino game ?

I agree both with Bayes and proof. Slot seems to be a non strategy game but we can still discuss about it.
A separate  section is not a very bad idea. If we can talk off topic, why not slots?

I agree with bayes on my views on slots...however...i read everything...so i would really enjoy a slots page...as long as you wernt just showing winnings and not sharing how u did it.[smiley]aes/wink.png[/smiley]
don't get me wrong...I've been known to feed a fruity when I've ad too much sauce
(work THAT one out if you are from across the pond)

Slots? Anyone got a nice big magnet?  (Joke. I know it's all electronic.)

Getting back to Turner's comment:

"(work THAT one out if you are from across the pond)"

Here's something to ponder (yes, a pun for those that can't get it)

I'm afraid, Turner, it was the Boston Tea Party that caused a big split in what was, until then, shared humour!

Thereafter, mutual misunderstanding has become the norm.

(Well, that's my explanation. Probably as good as any...LOLOL)

There are too many dormant sections already. Why not use the general section to post and if it becomes too many, then slots can automatically find a slot.

Agreed, yanks. It will just be more clutter. And you're right; many of the sections we have now are gathering dust.

The other thing about slots is that the house advantage is just too high. We're talking 30%+ here. Even gamblers should give themselves a fighting chance...

Same goes for the lotto/lottery, if anyone's thinking about a lottery section.

In my opinion, since slots have no bet selection possible, slots discussion doesn't fit us, canonically speaking.

On the other hand, if people in the community want a slots section, a slots section it is. You only have to tell me to open the poll. It should stay for a week at least :) ; that should give it community's approval -or not-.

The scatter on those reels makes it unplayable IMO. [smiley]aes/tongue.png[/smiley]

P.S. For anyone interested. There is a guy over on the Wizard of Vegas Forum who has started posting recently called 'mickeycrimm'
His stories are fascinating and he claims to be an AP player at slots who has lived in the Vegas area for years. I am pretty certain these are not the kind of slots you will find in the U.K. or Oz. These are like Video Poker etc.. But it is great reading and you never know what you might pick up from the guy.

cheers

The legal limit in the UK is 30%.  I think that the limit in the US is 25%.  But you'd be hard pressed to find slot machines (Thomas Clines) outside of 15%.  Maybe at the airport, or grocery store.

A chance at "thinking" that they have a chance.  Certainly not a chance at a million dollars from a few hundred.

Casinos put table games in with slots because the table players think exactly that; and the slots players can hide away from exactly that.  Both then have a sense of security, albeit like everything else to do with casinos, a false sense.

Ah, no.

I would venture to write off hand that if you stick to the older $1 model machines (with the older chips in, the chips being costly to replace,) and additionally to the prominent areas of a casino, that you'll wind up playing a 2% machine.  With a few further strategies to better the 2%.

Though I won't be so obvious about it, I could walk into a busy casino today, get a dozen players cards under my name, slip those into choice machines, and let others rack up a $100 in comps for me.  Mill around for a couple of hours, or play some blackjack, and put the cards back in after someone else lays your card to the side to use his/her own card.  A lot of players don't bother with the players cards.
Nice input ...

And that would still be less devious than the actual slot machines

You may play similar columns, lines, diagonals, and squiggles.  Very little difference, except you may move at your own pace, and on your own.

My point also ...
You can even play pattern breaker with slots, same thing as roulette ...

Ok, 2% is tolerable but even 5% would be too much. And it's not only the HA; slots have very high standard deviations.

I've heard that some people watch and wait for machines which haven't paid out in a while, then jump in thinking that it's "due".  :D

Have seen in casino/hotel, Park, Nova Gorica, Slovenia, 3 supposed pairs of Italians, playing same slot
for 7 days/nights in continuation, in 8 hours shifts.
Hoping to crack down the 1 million it was due to pay......instead they lost all and went back to Italy broke....
Me have played a method/roulette for 11 days in continuation until finally come on top.....wouldn't have a courage to repeat it again nowadays.

I am staying away from those  slot machines.

I like the Video Poker  machines.

Full Pay  Jacks or better 9/6, Optimal strategy 99.52 % pay back

Deuces wild, Optimal strategy  100.76 %.pay back

It is well known  that those  full pay machines are  to be found in Las Vegas  and Reno but hardly  at locations in "Fly over country".

For information and recreational purposes only. Play at your own risk.

Comp credits  are 50 % than those at slot machines.

P.S.

Jacks or better machine 25 cent denominations max bet $  1.25 Bankroll required  $ 1, 000.--
$ 1  denominations max bet $ 5. Bankroll required $ 4, 000.--

I would like to add that I am   a Jacks or Better   9/6 Video Poker Player.

No way would I play Deuces  Wild. That`s a punishment if there ever was one. No matter how well the pay off.
