I have been using Stetsons method of play for years and it works for me. It has taken a lot of practice. I still chart the decisions at the table and read over the book several times a year. I take the charting home and spend hours reviewing the play to see what I could have done better. I have been charting for years and it has built up the confidence.  The mental aspect of the game is huge when things get ugly.

Hi dave,

I'm a big fan of Stetson's style of money management. In particular, he's dead right when he says that positive progressions "lock in" losses, and the examples in his book demonstrate that quite nicely. I think he's a little weak on bet selection; on the one hand he says that if things aren't going well you should switch, but elsewhere gives the impression that it doesn't much matter how you choose your bets, and that there's no avoiding bad runs at times (all you can do is to adjust your MM accordingly). Overall though, I absolutely agree with him that you need to stop thinking in terms of mindless mechanical systems and that the process needs to be dynamic.

Welcome to the forum.

What is the name of this book ?

In my expirience playing mechanical or dynamic is the same thing.
Because of the randomness of the game anything is possible so in one session the mechanical betting will win and the dynamic will lose and the opposite.

@ sputnik, you already have the book, it's called "How to win $1000/day playing Craps". You said you thought it was "fuzzy".  ;)

@ Razor, I agree, everything is POSSIBLE, but is everything equally PROBABLE? in my experience, it isn't.

So, dave, are you making $1000 per day? :D

There is no method that can predict better than other. There can be MMs that can handle uglier than average. Go for them and then expect something.

Where can I find the text of the Stetsons method on the web?
say things directly to show respect for other people's time. Walter.

Bally uploaded it here but I forget the name of the thread.

His method requires 10 hours of play a day at a $5.00 table. I am good for 4 or 5 hours and difficult to find a $5.00 dollar table where I live (Niagara Falls). I do not make $1000.00 per day as my increment betting is smaller then $5 increments at times and is required by the book.

I am making $25.00 to $40.00 per hour. Our tables only get approx 30 to 35 decisions per hour. Stetsons based his on 55

Here is my work for last Saturday May 18th with 4 hrs and 20 minutes of play on a $15.00 table playing on the Pass line only.

It looked like this...mmmpmppmmpppp 7/13  pmmmpmpmpppmp 6/13 mmpmmppppmmmp 6/13
mpmpmmppmmpmmm 4/13 mpppmpppppmmm 8/13 ppmppmppmpmmm 7/13 pppppmpmmmpmp 8/13
mmmmmppmmmppm 4/13 ppmmmmpmppmmm 5/13 mppmmmpppppmp 8/13 pmppm (end at 5pm)

I just added up the decisions it is 132/132 if my addition is correct, a 50/50 game based on approx 30 decisions per hour.  It does not always work out like this but close all of the time based on about 4 hours of play or more in my 4 years of charting experience.

appears to be a problem with sizing of text here.

Hope that helps anyone reading.

This forum engine has plenty of bugs which must be addressed "upstream". Sorry. The ultimate solution would be for me to create a new forum engine from scratch (not unlikely I must say).

In the mean time, you can disable auto-formatting by toggling view when clicking the button. Formatted text editor then becomes a "flat" text box with no font size hence out of font issues.

Testing if the window becomes a simple text box, what does that mean, i am not sure ...
Well now i will test spelling wrong, suceed, good it has a red line below it and i can now use firefox spell checking, great.
I just mark my mouse-arrow above the word and click and get the words that correct the spelling.
This option feels much better then the built in spell checking ...

Many Thanks ...
