Negative / lifetime progression
August 22, 2013, 02:04:41 PM
I am heading for a short adventure trip. Life always springs surprises and long wanted to do bungee jumping. Heading to NZ to do some crazy things.
Planned for a week out there. Hope I come back in one piece J

But thought, will share an interesting progression idea that I was working on. You all can have a chat (laugh ??) about it while am away J
If an EC progression is able to sustain 24 steps, without getting anywhere closer to table maximum is it good enough? May be, May be not.

But here it goes. Again it is conceptual and after running a number of tests through various types of progressions, this is as close a more successful mechanical progression can get to.
It is very effective because this is how close a progression can get to flat betting.

I will try explaining this in EC context, but the same can be adopted to other positions as well, very effectively.
Can someone be kind enough to post 100 spins. 2-3 sets will be good.

Bet selection – Use what one is comfortable with. OTL, FTL, 3SD whatever pleases you. To me it’s a simple bet on black always J

Level 1 – Flat bet on 1 unit. Until you reach 10 spins or you are up by 1 unit. Whichever is earlier. If you reach a point where you are up by 1 unit, restart the progression from level 1 again.
Level 2 – You will reach this stage if you have bet for 10 spins are you in negative territory. Now lets say you won 3 spins, lost 7 spins. You are in negative  of -4u. Add the unit that you are in negative to 1 u.
In this example you get 5u (4+1).
Flat bet 5 units until you reach 10 spins or you are up by 5 units. Whichever is earlier.
If you  reach a point where you are up 5u, restart from level 1.
Level 3 – You will reach this if you have bet for 20 spins and you are still in negative territory. Now lets say you are combined in negative of -4u from first set and -10u from second set, add those together, along with 1u.
You will get 15u (4 + 10 +1).
Flat bet 15 units until you reach 10 spins or you are up by 15 units.

You can go on and on. But so far, I have stopped at Level 3, cursing my luck and started all over again. And to quote ignatus “This works”

A small video with vocals would go a long way to showing this can be done in reality and not just in theory.  That is, if anyone truly wants to teach the method.  Not saying you can't do it; I'm asking if you truly want to disclose it.

I think the 3SD guys won't go that far...
I know why. it's a difficult concept to work with and takes a lot of study, and why do all the hard work, then just go tell someone who hasn't. I've lived with it for 20 years in Chess clubs....
This conversation triggered this post. It might be possible that those who are practicing it, don't have the time and energy to do so or simply don't want to do so. But that didn't stop them from dropping hints all over the place in these forums. So, now this post is an attempt to get all those concepts together and derive a playable method from that. I think, I have figured out overall a set of 5-6 concepts that forms of the back bone of this. I will start describing one by one the way I understand it, so that others who know about this can contribute as and when we go along. The end product is a mixture of all these concepts and how to play all of them in parallel. This thread will not be a success without contribution from everyone, without which it will be just my viewpoint from what I have seen so far.

Yippee! Opened a betfair account. They actually charge money for depositing? They charged me 2% for using paypal to deposit. Interesting :)

I thought, I will try getting accustomed to the site and was browsing around. Did try betting on the first match. I never heard of these club names before and went with the bookies favourite. So a good, lucky and blind start :)

The thing that's irritating me is fractional odds. I think am better at decimals. Anyone knows of a option/setting that I can use to see decimal odds?

Now I looked at what's going to happen this weekend and read through loads and loads of material over the last 2 days. As suggested by you all, am going to risk 20% of my bankroll as a start. Giving 5% bet size, that gives me 4 matches to bet on.

I am thinking my first pick will be Reading vs Watford. Familiar towns. I have been to a couple of Reading matches last year. Going by the recent streaks, I am going to go for Watford to win at 9/5 odds.

Second one is crystal palace vs Tottenham. I am going to go against the bookies here and go for crystal palace to win or draw considering it is happening in their ground and their recent performances are good. Tottenham is kind of going through a choppy period.

Next is Liverpool vs stoke. Going to go for Liverpool or Stoke. Clueless on what to pick as the fourth one. Any feedback on selections so far and hint on fourth bet will be helpful

Sports Betting Forum / Accumulator bets
August 15, 2013, 12:34:36 AM
I was trying to understand sports betting better and was going through lots of reading while I was travelling to and returning from Coventry. I came across this and it sounded very interesting. But when I did my maths, they are not adding up.

Anything more than two accumulations is not stacking up. For eg, lets consider 3 games. An accumulator bet winning all 3 will yield better profits compared to betting all 3 individually. But at the same time, even if 1 result doesn't go my way, individual bets are taking a far better position compared to accumulators.

I might be missing something here. What are your views on it?

gCall to experts out there!

Recently I read lots of suggestions towards investing in sports betting rather than roulette. But figured out that there are not many discussions.

Few basic questions.  What is the BR and unit size one should consider? What is safe and steady.  Live game betting or offline?  Does having a knowledge of game absolutely important? Is there any known progressions or is it flat betting always? What should be a decent target one should keep in mind?

Any inputs are welcome.

Gambling Philosophy / Random thoughts
July 29, 2013, 04:54:41 PM
So here is my break! Here comes my chance to take a break from chasing the 20k and test out, energize myself and prepare myself for the next attack. I am going to use this break to hone my thought process further. There are several random thoughts (yeah random!) that flows across my mind now. But I am going to park them at the moment and jump straight to what I wanted to achieve in this break. I intend to share those thoughts during this quest as and when they become relevant to seek further feedback from my fellow forumers who have extended excellent support so far. Thanks!

Ever since I started playing for real and associated myself with this community, I have disciplined myself to ask 4 questions before I place every chip on the table. Which, where, when and how much.

Which – Which position to play. This is normally guided by the system that I am adopting. Let's say am playing Easy peasy system. Then the answer to "Which" is 1EC(high/low) and 1 line(3/4). If am playing GLC's even chance system, the answer to which is one even chance. If am playing GG's triple shooter the answer is 3 Even chance positions one of a kind.

Where – Where to place your chips. This is completely different from which position to bet. This "where" is normally guided by some conditions. Let me take an example of Easy peasy system. Depends on how you are playing it whether the last spin is "BO/RE/BE/RO" decides where to place your chips. While "Which" guides it is 1EC and 1line, "Where" guides the exact EC and the line to place your chips on.

Both of these combines to form your bet selection approach.

"When" – When to place your bets. There is a whole host of techniques around Virtual betting, "wait for x losses" before betting etc, stop session after 3 losses decides the when part. This can be essentially grouped under "Timing"

"How much" – How much to bet. This is essentially your money management within a session. All progression techniques, flat bet propositions will give the answer to this question.

Now that I have decided to ask these 4 questions before every bet, my next thought was, how do the answers influence the outcome and the bankroll. My thought process at this stage is (of course it will evolve over a period of time), Which and where is something that I control. For a moment, let us assume the outcome is perfectly symmetrical, i.e., I get 50 Reds and 50 blacks in 100 spins or I get all numbers from 1to 36 twice in 72 spins (give the green goblin a well-deserved rest for a moment. He must be tired working so hard for the casinos). Then "Which" and "When" leads us to controllable attributes. They are the elements where I can force my control on, just like I set a routine in my life to have breakfast every morning.

Now "Where" is something where eventhough I express my control on, the outcome is completely controlled by random. I can only predict what can come next. Prediction can be based on a number of parameters and in roulette when all pockets are equal, you cannot predict with any degree of accuracy unless you are GOD. It is like this, which all you gentlemen may be able to relate to, when Manchester United plays reading, you can predict with reasonable accuracy that Man U will win the match, but when Man U plays Man City, then it is a tough call. I wish in roulette some slots showed higher strength like this example. But unfortunately that's not the case.

"When" is a concept that's really tricky. I am neither mature not knowledgeable enough to discuss it. So will leave it at the moment.

So my quest during this break is real simple. If "Where" is not in your control, why lose sleep over it? Why can't you adopt a static selection. Why can't you adopt a selection which is pure random. I know there are hypothesis around that is against static bet selection. I completely agree with every one of you and to the record to me static bet selection does not sound right. But my question is, does a defined approach which is not static, is it right or is it a fallacy. E.g. FTL, is it right? How much better or different is it from static bet selection.

I am going to take simple systems that I am comfortable with. I am going to play them in Live wheel (I don't want to get into RNG/Live wheel questions at the moment, as I agree with most if not everyone here that live wheel is best as RNG is not a reflection of true random). I am going to play 5 games of 50-100 spins for every system using a static bet selection, dynamic bet selection defined by the system author and a random bet selection. When I say bet selection, I mean the "Where" part and not the "which" part. My objective is not to determine which one is best, but to determine fundamentally whether it has an influence on game play.

Mr. Roulette wheel, here I come!

This is something I have played with some success in my short roulette playing duration and stood longer testing cycles.
Inspiration - Turner's Quad cycle, FlatINO's LvF and GreatGrampa's Triple shooter

Will post more in the course of the week and will eagerly look for feedback.

One of the things that I struggled as  a new comer was capturing trends in ECs which do not appear visually in the marquee i.e. H/L and O/E. The attached tool will help overcome that issue.

The next feature of this tool is what Drazen asked Vic in one of his posts. "After x in a row you play until win but max lets say 3 times. If no win you abandon it and search next trigger like that".

I am planning to run this tool as an open source project. Interested parties pls contact me to be part of the open source project. I will post the code as well later this week.

Also, any wishlist for features pls post here. Will be prioritized for implementation :)

Off-topic / Signatures....
July 05, 2013, 03:44:04 PM
Signatures - They refer to the characteristic expression of a process or a thing or  a person. And over the short time I have been associated with this community there are certain signatures that caught my eye. I wanted to use this thread for everyone to capture any signatures that caught your eye and a short brief on what you derive out of it or explain their own signatures. No links please :) Else the mods will have a tough time to mod:)

Let me start the thread with a tribute to Greatgrampa. When I was asking where to start, a lot of people PMed me to read every single word he has written in this forum. Initially, I thought what all the fuss is about. Then when I started reading them, I realized those words are a new comers paradise. Its not the systems that caught my eye, with all due respect, as it might figure out in the top systems that have been written about. It is the way he explains the concepts, it is the way he understands the game inside out and able to bring out insights, it is way he puts things in a simplistic manner, it is the way he encourages people to have a open thought process, it is the way he is able to synchronize his thought process with other experienced people in the forum is what I am impressed about. It is sad that he couldn't complete all the threads that he started, but I for one is looking forward for his return to learn more from his experience.

Coming back to the signatures it was "Greatgrampa - Your friend and mine".

Reminds me of Peppa pig and Mr. Potato. Mr. Potato is the only non-animal character in the Peppa pig series. For people who don't know Peppa pig it's a cartoon in UK and I am a fan. Mr. Potato greets everyone with this line. Greatgrampa somehow fits into this standing out from the crowd. That way the signature is a true reflection of his character which is individualistic and at the same time very friendly and approachable. "Your friend and mine" - is he talking about roulette, is he talking about his character Greatgrampa? Only he can tell. But this definitely caught my eye, treating himself as a third person :)

Disclaimer : None of the signatures are mine and I don't want to offend anyone. If your signature appears here and if you don't like what's written, I politely request you to PM the person who posted it and get it removed. Thanks!

Hi all,

While am scrapping through the forums, am seeing loads of methods to play and struggling to keep up. As a starter am picking those that led to max discussions. Am practicing 10 of them at the moment and while doing that figured that some come easy to me and some are very difficult and needs lot of patience to study and practice. So obviously the easy ones are becoming my favourites.

But it will be really interesting to hear from the community and benefit from their experience on their favourite methods.

What is your favourite playing method(s)?

Folks!

I did mention about the system 1236 and for/against play on ECs that I got from the book GLC suggested me. I thought why not merge Greatgrampa's Triple shooter and this method. It is essentially playing all three ECs based on this system. I have created a tracker for this.

I am still testing this through, so haven't drawn to any conclusions. But it is a very straightforward method and the tracker is attached.

As usual, for those who wants to have a look at the code the password is "Goodluck".

As I set out to play this method, I have created an excel sheet. Thought will share with everyone. Usage is pretty much straightforward. The system can be referred to in the post http://betselection.cc/double-street/0-01543209876
