If you come at a shoe with a set wager and a set 'pre conceived/bet placement method' you limit yourself (greatly restricting yourself) to a few wins, with combatting lots of losses, IMO.

Maybe you don't realize--baccarat presents itself for your interpretation--and therein lies the problem.  Interpretation, not prediction. So people set 'pre-conceived/bet placement methods' but fail to or explain to tell the recipient of those--how there are and will be, every conceivable pattern/event, in and around, those events that call for the bet-placement to be made.  You will learn after years of playing, how the shoe cannot be restrained to a limited number of post event/after event, type of hands for yourself so you can recognize the correct or system wagering trigger that is reliant on something from appearing.

If you win by system placement and gather up those wins, then it is inevitable that those same wins will be wagered and lost on subsequent hands that you attempt to prevail at.  You can easily win 4-5-7-9 units but then, 5-7-9-12-15 units will be lost and out the door on another round of wagering with the same exact system. 

If you do not work and will not work, and you have decided you will gamble for a living playing baccarat, if you are after a one or two unit a day type of payroll, it is possible to prevail for awhile with a 40-50 unit bank roll, perhaps greater.  Personally, I don't see any long term, everyday success in playing that way.  The problem will be the times you stick to your guns and continue with a system of play, that will take 30-40-50 units to recoup a unit or two or three.  Then the flip side I believe to that, is when you will not risk those larger double digit losses and start to cut your losing hand, say to a couple or 3 and try to conservatively cut some losses as they are happening.  Then in that case, you will have numerous losses that add up and the deduction of wins will not reduce the losses and you will be losing money, etc.
