I wonder who can read our PMs on this board even though we would really want them to be private?

Members cannot.

Moderators cannot.

And we have a very strict rule about the privacy of PMs.

Hope that reassures you.

(Mind you, if the forum is hacked then PMs could be vulnerable, of course.  :( )

In my frequent role as ' the devil's advocate ' I wrote "I'm open to valid reasons."  And you've provided some.

If anyone uses the same password for everything (I'm talking generally; not for just this forum) then that is plain daft, and I certainly won't resile from that fact.

During several pen testing courses I've taken the point was made again and again that because folk don't use different, fairly long passwords, consisting a mixture of random characters, numbers, upper and lower case letters -- and change them frequently -- they make life a lot easier for hackers.... But that's another story for another day.

Meanwhile, perhaps some other members can also offer reasons as to why an insecure login is undesirable.

Thanks for the reply, Victor.  All good reasons for making the hosting switch.

As for the insecure login:  given that no money is changing hands on the site does it really matter?

Surely, it matters only if people are daft enough to use the same password for all their logins elsewhere. In which case, they should start changing to different passwords right away.

For the rest of us who already use different passwords why would it matter? I'm open to valid reasons.

Thanks for your patience guys. We're back online form the Netherlands.
Vic

Very good.

But one minute Iceland was the flavour of the month.  The next minute  no more Iceland, and now we're in bed with the Netherlands.

So what happened?

Many members will  have text files of numbers collected from live wheels.

Why not ask for those instead?

The Patron idea may be good for artists, musicians and other "creators", but it's a poor business model if what you're creating is roulette software which is designed to make money for the user. Most who frequent forums like this are just looking for a reliable way to make money from gambling, they are not "fans" of Victor the "artist" who want to support his work. Patreon is an absurdly bad fit in this case, and I don't know why Victor is so reluctant to simply put price tags on his software, perhaps he thinks it will lay him open to accusations of being a scammer if the software doen't "work".
If the software is "art" and he is an artist then the art is to be enjoyed for its own sake; it doesn't necessarily have to work, unlike a bridge which should at least not collapse, lol.

Mike makes some good points.

I thought "...absurdly bad fit..." was very apt phrasing!

Even so, I sincerely hope we're proved wrong, and that Victor's 'Patreon Adventure' works out well and he achieves his objectives.

His heart is in the right place. Wanting to help others is a noble aspiration.

Hopefully he will broaden his software base, and offer alternatives to the limited niche of gambling software in due course. That will widen his customer base.

After all, he's an ace programmer, capable of producing all sorts of programs.

We recently had an interesting time contending with a former member flogging his baccarat book(s) on Amazon.

For various reasons some doubts were raised about reviews for the book.

So, in that context, members here who buy stuff on Amazon will likely find this link very helpful:

Moderator's Warning

Alrelax carefully avoided naming names and making a personal attack.

CT chose to respond with a personal attack in the first post!  He/she has thereby chosen the consequences for infringing the forum's clearly stated rule about personal atacks.

So if anyone else wants to respond to the first post in this thread then:   No. Personal. Attacks.

Or better still, simply ignore the post...  How's that for common sense?

After watching to the end I'm impressed by its features and approach.

A lot of work has gone into this tool which is based on a range of statistical and probability analyses. Petr holds tertiary qualifications in the field so he knows what he is doing.

And in the right hands, it delivers, too. Forum members should take note that -- playing RNG only -- Petr has turned his original 400 bankroll into 7500 in about 7 months.  An amazing achievement, that's part of a stated personal Challenge he's set himself.

Those who dismiss statistics in roulette as being irrelevant should note there are 7500 reasons for being more open-minded.

In playing RNG his success thus far has certainly given me pause for thought. Like many here, I was dismissive of RNG because so many are rigged.

Petr has found a game that seems to be honest. Long may it last!

You'll find details of his Challenge and his Black Pirate software here:  http://shareschoice.com/

A wonderful example of the biter bit with a delightful serve of British humour.

And thoroughly well deserved, too.

General Discussion / Re: RDL -Red Days of Loss
October 06, 2017, 10:56:52 PM
A most interesting and thoughtful exposition, Thomas. Much to ponder. The forum is fortunate to have yourself and few others who post interesting, literate and challenging ideas.

Your point about RDLs reminds me of "drain days" in my own betting activities both on horses and greyhounds.

Bear with me and I'll explain the highlights...

In 1929 Ralph Nelson Elliott discovered a repeating pattern in the stock markets.  He found a fractal type mathematical model to define the pullbacks and gains that a stock and the markets as a whole go through.

Yes, some of you will recognize  the Elliot Wave.

Like most things in life, racing conforms to the Elliot Wave and Fibonacci principles and laws.

In racing, you will often find that a system works well 61.8% of the time. But 38.2% of the time you will experience uncharacteristic losses that will drive you bonkers!

Interesting note that the Elliott Wave theory also has periods where there will be 61.8% losses to 38.2% wins.

These are the "drain" periods. Or, to use Thomas' analogy, the Red Days of Loss.

Luckily, drains can be easily spotted. When your system fails 2 to 3 times in a row, you have encountered a drain -- an RDL situation.

As far as win bets are concerned you just have to stay out of the betting market.

But, as in the equity or currency markets, you can use reverse strategies to make money during a drain in the betting results. You can lay instead.

Betfair and its exchange competitors offer the option to lay. That's not to everyone's taste because eventually liabilities will bite when the selection is inconsiderate enough to actually win instead of lose!

Either way I've found it's best to stop and paper trade until the 61:38 ratio begins to reassert itself -- it doesn't have to be exact but close.

Of course, none of the observations in these two posts thus far, will be wasted on the more thoughtful forum members who enjoy casino betting.

Ahhh....glad you clarified that!

In which case the last bit of my advice still stands -- ensure you bet only with money you can afford to lose.

Here's my advice from the perspective of one who has walked this planet for many decades:

You wrote: "Going to study abroad for my master in 3 months so now i quit my job and just chilling at home ."

You quit your job...and now you plan to gamble for an income?

BAD BAD BAD decision!!!

Go and get a proper job that will pay you. And treat your gambling as recreational only, betting only money that you can afford to lose.

His name is Brian Ward, inventor of square roulette.

Surely Jack Kennedy was the inventor of Square Roulette?

Rightly or wrongly this site certainly thinks so:  http://www.roulette30.com/2014/04/positional-roulette.html

Why would someone play hide and seek by using crypto-currency in the first place, unless there was a serious reason...?

In general, all cryptocurrencies transactions are not being regulated by banks...by choosing them you are effectively adding an additional layer of risk, beyond the one from the game itself.

Is this what you really want?   :nope:

Excellent points, BA.

Apart from which, at any moment we can expect various governments to move on cryptos -- China has already taken a swipe at Bitcoin.

Then you could find your balance is worth the temperature of ice.

Until we see which way the crypto-cat will jump, it's probably best to refrain from putting money into crypto-casinos [or any casino come to that, unless you have a profitable bet selection/money management strategy ]
