The other night at the casino, my friend and I stopped at an empty Blackjack table and talked to a dealer we knew from the bac tables. The sign said, "New Game. Double down on any first 10 Value card for 20% commission".
And what the dealer told us, you could double down up to the table limit, taking your initial wager into account. It was a $1,000.00 max table, so if you had $100.00 as your initial wager and your first card was a face card, you could double up to a $900.00 additional wager.
So if you placed $500.00 for the double down, you would have to pay a $100.00 commission up front to the dealer at the same time.
The dealer said works both ways. Some people were absolutely smacking the casino, big time on it and others--just surrendering their bank rolls/buy ins virtually every time they did it.
Anyone seen this or play it anywhere??
I have not played Blackjack in a number of years. We are going to the casino on Thursday night. I think I will try a few hands and see what happens. I want to throw it in when I get a 10. Just for kicks, a few hands.
Table dead last night. But I did speak to the dealers about this.
You play out your hand as normal. You have to book/place the wager, if and when you get a first 10 valued card. And, pay your 20% commission as well. Then you play out your hand as normal. You get your second card and you can hit-stand-split, etc., as you normally would. All you are doing is taking an additional wager up to table max on your first card--if it was a 10 valued card.
