Getting caught counting cards?

Mr J

I have a question/concern regarding being CAUGHT counting cards and counting cards in general.

Is it not an assumption by the casino that you are counting cards?

A person does not wear a sign around their neck stating they are counting cards and I'm sure one would not admit it so HOW does a player "get caught"?

Just so I understand this......you are doing VERY WELL at blackjack so pit might say, you MUST be counting cards, time for you to leave, you are banned. I don't get it?

Ken
Without a decent bet selection and the proper roulette experience, you don't have success, you have a hobby. There is no "Auto Re-bet" button in the ACTUAL world of roulette. Its B&M or take up stamp collecting. Don't let my honesty offend you. Haters will always hate. The saddest thing in life is wasted talent. The pit managers and other pit personnel can count cards just the same.  If you are making wagers in direct accordance with what they say, 'the deck is rich' and you have been wagering say $25 or $50 per hand all along and then start at $500 or $1,000 for a select few when the deck is rich for you, then they know.  They have it down too.

The trick is too alternate your wagers and seem a little haphazard all along and be careful with your eyes and stiffness and lip movement.

They will generally flat bet you, meaning you would have the option of staying but you must flat bet, your first wager must stay through the entire shoe.  Or, you max is the table min.  They do either way.

I played all the larger properties, they never look twice at you unless you are really wagering very low consistently and then all of a sudden with the count your wager drastically increases and you are right more than you are wrong.  Slick players are not the only ones that can count what is left or not in a deck.

Played well over 36,311 shoes of baccarat since I started playing at B&M USA casinos.

Played numerous properties in Las Vegas, Reno, Southern California, Atlantic City, Connecticut, South Florida, The South/Southeast as well as most areas of The Midwest.

Baccarat, actually a mixture of Watergate, attacking the Gotti Family and the famous ear biting Tyson fight leading to disqualification and a near riot.  Bac has all that & more.

But most places have went to the table min would be your max wager, at least in the bigger jurisdiction and the larger Indian properties.

You guys have zero idea what you're getting into here.

Suffice it to say, the unexpected happens every time.

that's it?

Yep.

Spend a good five years getting really good at it - you have to to turn a decent profit - to quickly be cheated, and then barred (from everywhere) if you didn't get the message the first time.

The casino can use any excuse that want to send you home or ban you.

As for doing very well at blackjack you would have to be doing very well indeed for the casino to ban you. Card counters tend to play with low or minimum stakes early in the shoe then throw in sporadic big or maximum stakes later in the shoe when the count is favourable. I suppose it would be fairly easy for casino staff to recognize the card counters style of play. If they suspect you are card counting sometimes they will limit your stakes, sometimes they will turf you out.

Card counting at blackjack is mostly a thing of the past as these days the shoe has at least 4 decks in it and they reshuffle the shoe before they even get half way through effectively negating any edge the counter might be preparing for.

Ken

Ken, do you suffer from Tourette's Syndrome?

It seems every now and then in your posts you SHOUT the odd word at us...

esoito

He's not shouting.

Capitals are a writer's device often used for emphasis -- as in THIS case!

greenguy

Ok

I thought italics and bold were used for emphasis and capitals were used for shouting.

You learn something every day...

esoito

You're right about italics and bold, as well as capitals for emphasis.

The artificial link between capitals and shouting is a recent interpretation that arose with the development of digital/online communications.

'Interpretation' is very much the key.

Whereas the eye of the beholder comes into play to a degree, of greater importance is taking into account the context, as is the case with Ken's post.

Mr J

"Capitals are a writer's device often used for emphasis" >>> Thank you Esoito, you are correct.

Back to your original concern/question.  I have seen literally thousands of players and shoes, countless.  Mostly in the high limits rooms over the years.  A.C., Reno, Vegas, Southern Cali, Mississippi, Connecticut and other places.  I have never ever once seen a player banned.   I have witness countless players winning tens of thousands and hundreds of thousand of dollars.

There will always be stories and there are certainly 'gangs' of people that try everything to get over on a casino.  But its the same with a retail store with shoplifting or theft.

It is also the same as almost any other business that hangs the sign outside, "we have the right to refuse services to anyone", etc.  It is my business, be fair and don't steal and don't take up space loitering.

Baccarat is "the final frontier" in terms of making it big with the elusive method.

I have read blackbelt blackjack and KO blackjack, used ZEN II strategy for counting, etc...

You have to be lucky to make serious cash and you need a bankroll. Without them 2 things, you will lose. You have a small advantage, also, don't forget you must play perfect strategy.

The deck can be rich, everything seems like the stars are aligned, yet, you still must hope the cards fall on your spot. You will have to grind to make it worthwhile.

People think you can count in a day and go to the casino and make thousands a day, sadly, they are mistaken.

I play double deck BJ and baccarat only. It seems that when I'm doing good or bad on the other, I can either recoup or lose on the other! I can't seem to get the stars aligned on one nifght for both games!

played with a fella the other night, he had 450 bucks, got to 1000, bet 500, doubled and won, now had 2000 and then ran it up to 40k. Needless to say, he couldnt stand prosperity and walked away with 15k. He gave back 25k. Insane...

This guy is as average a joe as you will find, his a truck driver, got his tax return and was at the casino decided to go to the 100 dollar table and figured it was like a dollar and a dream. 15k is nothing to sneeze at but if it were me, 30k would have definitely left with me. To each, their own.........

And in Asian casinos, they already use the Blackjack Automatic Continuous Shuffling Machines.

Making it impossible to count cards.  ;)
