I thought I would start another discussion to talk about this game. I play this with the same group that plays Cee-Lo (mentioned in my other post). It's a super fun game!

For those not familiar, there are three dice with different images on it (Prawn; Rooster; Crab; Goldfish, etc) and a board with six circles with matching images. The dice are in a container, the "banker" shakes it three times, then the bets are placed. You can bet on as few or as many of the images you want, could be just one or all six. Then the dice are revealed and the winning bets are paid out.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows what the best strategy for this game is? I will usually bet two or three images at a time, though I've tried all kinds of bets, I've played it intuitively, I really don't know the right odds or anything. I'm sure some of you would know what the math is on this. Is it best to just bet on one image at a time? Two? Three or more? If anyone can help me figure this out it would be great!

Also, and this has to do with cheating, I was a bit worried when I first started playing these "outside the casino" games with this group, though I feel much better now since there doesn't seem to be any cheating going on, though you never really know. In CeeLo they like to use a bowl, so when you drop the dice they bounce around in there, I'm not sure how anyone would be able to control the dice in this case, but in Fish-Prawn-Crab (and Sic-Bo which we also play) the dice are in a container, they shake this container three times, the bets are placed, then the lid is lifted to reveal the results. I always feel weird about not being able to see the dice shaking in there. Is there a way to cheat or control the dice in that container? I sure hope not.

Thank you so much for any info!

Archie, thank you so much for that detailed reply! Great! With this game we don't get to play banker, there's only one banker, the "house". What you explain makes sense of course, when I'm not doing so well I'll only bet on one image, most of the time I'll bet on two, sometimes maybe three. The thing with two is that I will often win one and lose the other, so it's a push. Every now and then I'll win both which is good, but I could just bet double on one and I guess it's the same thing. Anyway, thank you for explaining all that! Very useful!
