Anyway, in 2017 around Thanksgiving time here in the Colonies, some friends and I were discussing the relatively new concept (to us) of Blockchain and BitCoin and all of that and pretty much decided it was a giant Ponzi scheme with an excellent mathematical back end.

The alcohol was flowing and we eventually all put up $1000US to purchase a "1/10" interest in a BitCoin, each.   Mainly just for grins.  As it was more gambling money than any kind of serious investment, it was joke money over a holiday.

We watched it for awhile and then kind of just blew it off as a novelty and nobody wanted to cash in so it still sits there in my account.   One tenth of a BitCoin.

Do I take BitCoin seriously?  No.  Absolutely not.  It is not part of any plan for the future, retirement, working or even my gambling account.  It is merely a blip on the screen of life and I'll just watch it move up and down from time to time.

"Investing" in BitCoin is a bit of a misnomer for sure.   As with most of the crypto world, people buy into ANY coin that starts up with the hope of riding it to a higher value down the road.    Buying 100,000 "coins" of some newly marketed name at .0000001 cents a coin is only meant to have others pile in after you so that you can sell your "vast holdings" when the valuation gets up to a half cent, hopefully.

Using BitCoin as some kind of investment tool is not really a good idea.  Just looking at the major players in BitCoin should set off warning flags in a person's head.   It's a gambling coin, not a life style investment choice.

Am I planning on selling my BitCoin in the future?  I doubt it.  It's always fun to explain to people how I've really made a killing (not really) with my initial $1000 joke purchase.   As the money came out of my gambling account, it won't hurt a bit if BitCoin craters to nothing in the future.

BitCoin continues to hold its own at the 60K level due to mass media never saying anything bad about it.

Anyway, that's just my take on it.    It is my own personal opinion and that is all anyone should take it as. 

I do know two people who have basically swapped out their retirement accounts to purchase BitCoin for the future.   I find those people to be terribly short sighted and not very good at retirement planning but it is their choice.    I'll leave BitCoin to the realm of digital gambling.

Had to spend a week or so "up north" in Minnesota and tracked down a few casinos while I was in the Minneapolis area.

Three places I went to were the Mystic Lake Casino, the Canterbury and a smaller Little Six casino.

Didn't play at Little Six as it just didn't appeal to me at all.  Barely got into the place before we turned around.  Just a weird feeling.

The Mystic Lake Casino is their big casino and had all the usual amenities EXCEPT for baccarat!!   Say what?

They had every card game, slots, bingo, and probably a few things I might have missed.

Finally checked out the Canterbury Casino and that was my sweet spot.   All cards, NO SLOTS!

Yes, not a single slot machine in the place but plenty of poker, baccarat and blackjack including a stadium blackjack area.

As my normal casino does not offer the Panda/Dragon setup, I was slightly taken aback the first time I had a good win on Banker and didn't get paid due to the Dragon scenario.   Had to take a break and regroup for that table.   Finally got it figured out and had a good, albeit frustrating, day on the table.

The lady friend wanted to play blackjack as all her "girlfriends" raved about it awhile back so we sat down at the stadium setup for blackjack.   An unusual $1 to $300 spread with what I can only assume was a continuous shuffle machine that the dealer kept feeding after each hand.   Also a "bad for the player" 6 to 5 blackjack payout, but we were teaching a new player and at a dollar a hand, not much harm can come of that.

She eventually won $30 (on a series of $1-$2 bets) and we called it a day.

I never realized just how noisy a casino is with all those slots going.  When they are gone, it's a very relaxing atmosphere!

I used to play there a lot.

My job had me in Hong Kong for at least two weekends a month and it was a simple $200HK high speed hydrofoil trip over and back.  I do miss that a lot.

They were just finishing the Venetian when I was there so can't really comment on that casino.

ALL of the casinos I played were mainly bac tables but my favorite was the Lisboa.

Besides the fact that, at the time, all of the attendants looked like military recruits in their odd uniforms, it was a pleasant place to play.

Obviously the Venetian would be the top pick now, but back then the Lisboa was my pick.   An easy day trip out of Hong Kong.

One thing I do remember because it was a beautiful piece of machinery to watch was an electronic baccarat dealing machine behind clear glass.

It resembled a mechanical drawing table and used real cards in real time.   Fascinating to watch it draw the cards and play the hands, all automated.   It got a lot of people watch but only a few of us would play on it.  This was back in maybe 2004 or 2005 and I still remember quite vividly.

Never saw it in any other casino in my travels.

Finally.

Roulette has finally arrived at my closest casino here in SW Florida.

As I have been shying away from the baccarat tables of late due to excessive manipulation of the chips during play and the fact that the bac tables are always crowded with some really odd people lately, it was a nice change to be able to sit down and not touch anything while playing for awhile.

Although the Tampa and Hollywood casinos have had roulette for a long time, it has just recently come to the Immokalee casino.

I'll be glad when some type of stadium baccarat comes to my local casino, but I'm thinking that won't be for some time way off in the future.   For now, if I want to avoid playing with chips, these roulette tables will have to do for now.

As I've been playing online baccarat for many, many years now, I'll have to kind of go against the grain here.

Obviously any of the online RNG games are to be avoided even if they are perfectly legitimate, the idea of wagering against a "neutral" computer just doesn't appeal to me nor do I get a warm and fuzzy feeling about it at all.

With that said, I have no problem playing online baccarat WITH LIVE DEALERS that are verified with background video and a good record of payments to winning players.

I'm lucky in that my normal online casino has been in business for a very long time and I've personally not had any problems with them at all.

There is a leap of faith you may have to take in order to get your account "OK'ed" for deposits and payments but once you're through that hassle, it can be a good way to play.

I've found that I really don't like being at a table with boorish players, dirty chips moving back and forth and the travel time to and from the casino.   A leisurely hour at a comfortable table with my papers at the ready, and in a smoke free environment, works out better for me.

It's kind of odd these days.

Most, if not all of the various gambling type forums have become sanctuary sites for people who will complain about anything, and do it in a loud and continuous voice that never ends.  These people used to get warned, then banned for basically not playing well with others.  Not it appears that you are rewarded for being about to out shout and out gross the next guy.

The incessant junk about the WWVegas site has been going on FOR YEARS with the same few people rehashing over and over about how bad it is.

But they continue to go there in spite of it being horrible, according to them.   It's really is comical to read what they post.  These are supposed to be adults, and successful (if you believe their tales) gamblers!

Several years ago almost every gambling site had it's own dedicated group of individuals who really played and studied the game, be it roulette, baccarat and to a smaller amount even craps.

Now it's merely whining about somebody else and ZERO actual gambling discussion.

Luckily there are still a few who continue to play, continue to show a profit year after year, and just read along, all the while taking a step back and asking "Do I really want to get involved with some of these people?"

Not here, but the other sites are really a cesspool of human waste for inhabitants.
