General Discussion / Re: american wheel.
October 22, 2013, 03:06:34 AM
most of the second column is clustered together but if you want to go with a 15 number bet and split the difference in payout between a dozen and an EC you play the following numbers

0, 2, 5, 7, 9, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 26, 28, 30, 32, 35  (you skip the 8 and 29) numbers in red are obviously departures from the second column

you can also play the second column and the 7 and 28 streets along with the 0 or 0/00 at that point to make it an 18 number bet and keep the chip count down if you need to...the calculations get a little complicated on a real wheel if the table isn't busy if you are trying to keep everything even up on the units once you start mixing in streets and the 0/00 split...on a real wheel you are also looking at a decent size bet compared to what alot of the online players seem to be accustomed to (especially if you are playing a progression)...no 10 cent bets inside on any real wheels I've seen.

The straight up 15 number bet at the top of my response kinda looks like hopscotch when you lay it out on the felt...so it's easy to remember

How many times have you had someone turn around to you in a casino moaning that their numbers started coming up once they ran out of chips.  I wish I had a pound for each one!

cheers
The importance of proper bankroll.  It seems to never get mentioned or emphasized enough.

You must be properly capitalized in order to give yourself an adequate shot at victory.  2.63% house edge (or even 5.26%) pales in comparison as a playing factor when compared to virtually unlimited bankroll vs the avarage gambler with a few hundred bucks in his pocket.  It's a much bigger factor than most people ever acknowledge.

For me it would depend on how many methods I intended to play simultaneously as each would have it's own worst case or stop-loss drawdown scenario.  2000-3000 units generally would seem sufficient per visit/session.

I am in the upper part of the lower peninsula of Michigan.

Sam,
If you are around Manistee you should swing by Little Rivers Casino.  It's a nice little place near where we go Salmon fishing every year.

Have a safe trip Sam...hope you get a chance to swing by Glacier or Yellowstone before they close down most of the hotels and tourist traps for the season.

Pushing an uncomfortable amount out onto the felt is often what separates a winning from a losing session...and yes I am well aware that it also sometimes separates a bad night from a disasterous one...I just chalk that up to the essence of gambling and move along...on to the next bet.  (Notice I didn't say I was happily moving along if it went South on me...but still...you have to keep moving forward)

Bet selection, stop losses as a judicious part of money management along with reasoned progressions, patience and bankroll will usually keep your head above water....we've been down this path before though.

So when we see RRRRR, is there a cause or did it just happen?  I know the first-blush cause is that random is doing his/her thing.  Does random "decide" when to do this?  Or is random as helpless against itself as we are against it?

The crux of the post:  If it could be true that random is helpless against itself, is there a way to exploit this weakness?

TwoCat

Yeah...seems like this train of thought has been covered alot recently or maybe I am mentally sorting the posts and prioritizing...anyways...

After having just watched another installment of the "Final Destination" movies...I guess I have to think about this one in a new light...(so I will leave my final judgment I guess to some time in the future)

However....My initial thought is that exploitation of Random lies in having the bankroll, bet selection and intestinal fortitude to play out a string once you feel you have an advantage based on an advantageous standard deviation situation arising.  The trick is to be able to play out multiple "opportunities" in a manner to "win" rather than to simply survive as it seems many players do.

"Random" presents itself by deviating from the standard but if the deviation is long enough and extreme enough we have a level of certainty over the course of enough spins that if our bet selection, money management and bankroll all fall in line...should give you an advantage.  Of course, that being said...we know the first several attacks we play with that mentality most certainly has us facing RFH after RFH...but in the end if you can weather the storm...you will win and beat random at it's own game.

Of course with limited bankrolls, a limited amount of physical time you can sit at the table, combined with table limits and the drudgery of waiting for opportunites to strike (and then winning within the first few spins only to wait for another opportunity to again arise) the boredom combined with the aforementioned certainly pit human nature against random and being a betting man myself...I know where I'm putting my money on that match-up.

So I say Random has no plan to do us in and can just do her own thing at will because she needs no plan...and we will do ourselves in not because random is random but because random is relentless
