Mitigating losses, money management?

Seriously guys, you need to focus more energy on how to get the edge than on this nonsense.

Gaming discipline, state of mind, money management..., it's all just bunk and absurd dribble  that gambling book authors try to sell because they don't really know how to win and how to get the edge.

As a professional player my advice is this: Read on the history of the game.  Read what the risk consultants have to say, and stop with the "Zen and mind set dribble with regards to money management, mitigating losses cycles, etc.
It's all about getting the edge and exploiting the edge for as long as you possibly can, so that you can win grevious amounts of money PERIOD.

If the game is random, and not biased, then you can NOT win or lose at a rate that will exceed the house edge in the long run. FACT.

Tracking the Ws and Ls is meaningless and will keep you trapped in the box that is the "gambler's fallacy".

The best way to lose at a rate that could theoretically exceed the house edge is to bet on the coldest numbers possible on a live game.

If you want to keep wins to a minimum then bet several numbers, rather than just a few.

What would you like to hear?

That there's a magic progression that can make it work and here it is...?

Or

The truth- that your trapped in the box because you believe that there's an ideal progression?

If you want to keep profits low, just flat bet one unit

"Short cycle patterns and psychology" doesn't enable the player to win in the long run.  Physics, and inefficiencies in
the gaming device/ dealer does.  The tipping point is experience with the live wheels, knowledge of wheel design, assembly, playing conditions, and statistically relevant data.

QuoteAs always, the hardest part of winning at roulette, although I can say this having invested the time, is self management. Knowing when is sufficient, and when to stop. It does take years and I have a close friend, brilliant, yet still has doubts over 'compulsive behaviour' patterns when he has walked away with a loss after achieving 'sufficient' earlier gains.

Knowing when to stop should not be an issue.  Everything that needs to be said about gambling discipline, and money management can be written on just a page or two.  Gambler's waste far too much time talking about it, and looking back, rather than focusing on how to actually get an edge and win.  Professional roulette players don't try for only a few units at a time, we try for hundreds of them.

QuoteIt may be of some use to you but as I bet an optimum spread of nine single target numbers, my recovery will involve close repeat appearance three times, more often than not, of these targets within multiple up to 7 spin attacks, after notappearing a prior 11-21 ( average spread) spins. Sometimes these outcomes will be hit, hit, hit, all within one or two spins spreads and the earlier loss is quickly recovered and in fact often results in profit. Sometimes it is slower. This is more easily managed as it is all flat staked. I do not chase loss to extremes. However the spread and distribution of outcomes for this second phase has been based on empirical evidence, and not probability theory. There is indeed a sweet spot for phase one and phase two (when required) for my bet. The sweetest spot though is to exit with perfect timing.

What empirical evidence?  There is no supporting evidence that says that a 7 spin attack is better than an 8 spin attack.  Cheery picking entry and exit points based on numeric data alone is a waste of time without real information, such as the playing conditions.  Any spin data that you may have is simply curve fit to produce what you feel is the ideal result.  In reality, it is meaningless and carries no statistical significance whatsoever.

The LGH book is, at best, entertaining.  However, I find it hard to be believe that he was ever a "full time" gambler.

In order to beat roulette, players must focus on the wheel, not just the reader board.

QuoteWould any one  please  explain to the infidels the DIFFERENCE  between a pattern and an elegant pattern.-Dr. Mabuse

Simple, by throwing words like elegant, eb and flow, or fluid dynamics in front of pattern then we can pretend that it's not just more of the same gambler's fallacy nonsense.

Of course, what's next will likely be made up symbols like "M" and "P" to replace the words red and black.   When pushed, Gizmo can't prove why he feels all of the mathematicians are wrong, and why his system should really work.

In the end, it's the same nonsense that flares up over and over and over.  [smiley]aes/confused.png[/smiley][smiley]aes/confused.png[/smiley][smiley]aes/confused.png[/smiley]

This is the same thead that ran for a decade on Gamber's Glenn.   The only difference is that it's moldy now.  I think we can file this one away along with the 4Selecta.

QuoteSo how would your method avoid the losing streaks?  My method allows me to stay out of losing streaks.-Gizmo

Come on Gizmo.  Aren't your claims getting a bit wild? [smiley]aes/confused.png[/smiley][smiley]aes/confused.png[/smiley][smiley]aes/confused.png[/smiley]

I'm sorry but the over moderation is also absurd.

Why does time even exist?  A million heads in a row, and entropy.

XXVV,

Wow, that's pretty lame to brag about what you did.  Not many people would brag about being a <edited-out>.

I don't know why you feel you're above everyone else, and why you think we should just believe everything that you and your friend have to say.  I feel that everyone should have the right to question everything that they read.  Otherwise unintelligent ideas build on unintelligent ideas, and every charlatan out there can sell a "winning system" by pretending to be a PHD mathematician.   Whenever someone claims to be a PHD mathematician, while attempting to sell a book on how to beat roulette using chaos theory,  it should raise some red flags.

I remember we went down this same road when I pointed out that the number stream, in that other book that you were touting, was bunk.  (The book was called "Roulette For The Millions" or something like that).  Regardless, it was junk.  Even after I proved it, you were accusing me of slander, etc.   In the end, you finally had to admit that I was correct.  I wonder how you feel about the book reviews and critics on Amazon.   Do you also accuse them of slander? Do you feel that people should be required to keep their opinions and views to themselves?  Have you ever heard of peer review?

XXVV,

Wow you've got some ego there.

It's ludicrous to believe that your complaint is the reason betforum is down.  Nobody took your absurd complaint seriously.  At best a few people snickered and giggled.

Stef is simply moving and he has it down until he gets settled.

QuoteThus, after taking careful professional advice, I made a formal complaint to the Forum Server, Belgacom Skynet in Belgium with the result that BetForum.cc is now closed. Further action by me is pending
.

XXVV would have everyone believe that he's responsible for it going down.  I'm sure he'd also like everyone to believe that he's responsible for the sun rising each day as well.

However, nothing could be further from the truth.   I'm sure the administrator and the service provider found his foot stomping to be as silly as everyone else did.  Is it just me or does he remind anyone else of the poster named Mr. Chips?
