My opinion is that Regression is much better then Flat betting ...

If you can consistently win flat betting, then you can bet up to the max table limit every spin.

Where do you play, the short runs, the few longer ones, or both?

I think Gizmotron likes both, and Spike says they're both garbage.

What's your view?

I play short runs bc they happen the most, i can antcipate them.  I'm not experienced enough yet to consistently exploit the longer runs, but with time, I'm sure I will.

You made 10 units in the first two sessions, betting what,
over 100 times. And not betting every spin. So you were
there for maybe 150 spins, that's about six hours. Do you
consider this a viable way to play? Just curious.

Betting one of the 3 even chances.  Yes those first two sessions took around 50 spins each to reach +5, but don't assume I stayed at one table the entire time.  If I don't like what I see at one table I don't bet, at times I walk to the next table and play there, its all one session.  I'm talking about Vegas here, where there are 6 roulette games going on right next to each other.  And if a session takes 50 bets to reach my goal then it was a difficult session for how I am playing.  Of course that is not ideal, but like you like to say, when i'm not winning, i'm breaking even, i don't have long losing streaks, ever.  I am just scratching the surface here, to the different ways I can exploit a random stream, with time I will improve and these sessions will become consistently shorter.  I am nothing but a rookie, but the future is promising.

Even chance / flat bet & win consistently

I just played 9 sessions flat betting and my results are as follows:

Session 1: +5, 49 bets, won 27, lost 22
Session 2: +5, 53 bets, won 29, lost 24
Session 3: +5 23 bets, won 14, lost 9
Session 4: +5 23 bets, won 14, lost 9
Session 5: +5 29 bets, won 17, lost 12
Session 6: +0 40 bets, won 20, lost 20
Session 7: +5 11 bets, won 8, lost 3
Session 8: +0 32 bets, won 16, lost 16
Session 9: +5 6 bets, won 6, lost 1

This is nothing but red/black, odd/even, high/low.  Only one bet per spin.  It's not a system, it is experience.  It is 'reading random' as Gizmo and Spike talk about.  I don't play trends and I don't bet every spin.  I look at the past 20 spins and make a decision based what is happening.  I do have a few rules I use to keep from going out of control.
The most consecutive losses I endure is 2, 3 the most.  I can do this without writing anything down, just simply observing the history board, and reaching in. Many times the stream will be chaos, and I can avoid it, wait it out, or walk to the next table.  Its all about practice and really understanding what a typical random sequence looks like.  A typical random sequence has many very 'short runs' and just a few longer ones.  This is where I play.  I play inside a typical pure random stream.  Anything other than this such as tons of streaks, or tons of singles I avoid like the plague, it just doesn't work consistently for what I do.

Gizmo much respect.  You taught me alot about trends and for that im grateful.  Trends do have their place and they can be very effective.  My downfall was always staying even or getting into a hole and having a hard time getting out.  There is no doubt that you have the experience to use it effectively.

I've been doing something a little differently, instead of hopping on the trends, i play how i think a random stream might behave.  I know there are usually tons of singles, less doubles, even less triples, and hardly any quads or more.  I play for these times while also playing the streak or trend just as much as the anti-trend or anti-pattern.  Random does both equally, so i have to be on both sides, not just the trend.

The law of series, and the amount of switching usually behaves in a typical fashion.  This is how i have come to understand random.

II I III II I III, i  finally understand your forum name/sequence : )

Only took about a year and a half.

I assume you have been playing in this style for a while.

Ego has done a lot of great work with series as you know.

If you have a lot of experience playing series would you mind starting a thread with insights, methods etc.

I've just recently taken an interest to playing this way.  It is very effective with practice!

I only bet the EC's. The entire game can be distilled down
to the EC's. The inner layout is irrelevant.

You focus on series of singles, doubles, triples, etc....in the EC's.  You bet with experience based on the way these series behave in a typical random stream.  A typical random stream contains many singles, fewer doubles, and even fewer triples, etc....With experience the changing of these series can be anticipated without huge drawdowns.  There are no huge losing streaks.  You can also look for other sequences, and anticipate or "guess" for change.
