Title: Make yourself feel good
Post by: alrelax on June 07, 2016, 02:35:57 PM
I think it is an important part of gambling to feel good.

Make yourself feel good, positive and motivated.
Don't fall into the rut of emotional 'misdoing'.
Reasoning and emotions play a vital part of being able to think clear and lead yourself to the win.
Why the risk?  Give yourself a tangible purpose you can convert to your advantage.

Stuffing money into your pocket only to re-spend it later on additional buy-ins is going to lead you to that proverbial 'rut' you don't want to find yourself in.  If you don't know what I am referring to, you have not gambled enough. Wait a while and in a few years come back and re-read this again.

Like I did last weekend, I won and I ran out and took care of some bills that were going to have to be paid anyway in the upcoming weeks.  I bought my kid some toys and 'happy' stuff.  Bought some extra work clothes for the office, etc., etc.  Gave the wife and extra $450 'lucky money', etc.

Went back to the casino, win-lose or draw, I had that feeling of accomplishment already.  Before with the cash in my pocket, it would always be subjected to going for another buy-in.  I played different and with clear mind a bit more.

Thanks for the post.  It's good to do things for others, and very few gamblers make it to that level.  They're usually chasing so that they can do things for others when they win; but never actually reaching anywhere near what they need to.

I hope you don't fall into that rut, it's generally only a matter of time for most gamblers.

Don't misunderstand what I tried to convey.

I do not gamble for a living, never did and never will.  I know too many people that tried and every single one of them failed.

I used to gamble a lot more than I do now, but I still put in many hours a month gambling.

Only use a portion of my bankroll and/or incoming salary and monies from my business.  I know too well what can and does happen to the highest majority of all gambling.

I used to increase bankrolls and use the win monies only for gambling and seldom used them for myself or my family.  Sad but true.  On sizable wins, like one in Vegas in 2013 after hitting it hard at Creaser's with a win immediately in excess of $100k, we ran out and bought a brand new SUV with some of the profits.  But, I know all too well how most gambler's maintain their winnings and try to build their bankrolls and betting unit size to get larger and larger wins.

All I say is careful about maintaining that win money and using it for gambling, walk on that method like you are walking on eggshells, been there and done that.
