People succeed in many things in life as team whether it's business or sports, etc. Always have played better when there is one or more of the right strong player at a table working together and sharing what they see. It definitely has the potential to shore up discipline on risk management and other aspects of the game.
Why don't players team up more formally?

Give me affirmation on here if you are serious? I would be your ultimate team member.
Yes. I see team play all of the time though mostly too informal. It can be very effective.
Have you read my thread?
the 50/50 one
I would Love team play..Let me know who want to team up...just inbox me
On aspect of team play that is a benefit is scheduling breaks. 'You have been playing for X hours straight. Time to....'
To clarify, I am speaking about teaming up at local casinos as opposed to online, but I think there are many ways it could work. People play other games online together like Call of Duty - lol. Also, there I am not speaking about any sort of advantaged play, etc.
The Tran gang comes to mind.

The Tran gang comes to mind.
Their name has come up in several recent general searches - I must learn about their story.

Little do they know that 3 tables over 11 Bank in a row and counting just went off is my point. I think every player wants to play like ^This, but most are not strong enough to just park it, have a few drinks and play any shoe at any point for sustained durations no matter how tricky.
