Ok guys, this Black, White & Blue layout is the winning one for us to build upon

Hope you like it better this time.

We're validating Google's mobile-friendly test again:

Hello again Steve,

The final goal is to run an operation that we know for certain is up 100% of the time, that we can evolve by adding new features easily (i.e. 10 years ago, we wouldn't have been penalized by google for not having mobile versions) and -in general- stop depending on external parties to implement and fix things.

A home-grown web engine is the answer. The problem being -as usual- me having this as a hobby and not as a part-time job which means the only time left is at night (under an "if and when possible" basis); but (and this is where chance comes in) this year we may get enough sponsorship for me to devote daytime hours steadily.

The new engine is a long-term project. It's OK if we end-up with a basic web engine for us to "plug" (or unify) our Bet* sites into a single database this year. That's the starting point.

WE'LL SEE HOW IT GOES!

The time to see what was achieved in 2016 is Dec. 31; the year is still young  :cheer:

Quote from: Steve H on March 12, 2016, 02:35:13 AMWhat coding do you mean?

Hello Steve, the idea is to have a 100% clean slate to implement features we've been collecting throughout the years which simply aren't available on the current web engine.

For instance, there is a project to have a single database of members across sites to give each user  his/her own space with personalized rules, layout/theme, sections, etc.

The goal is to have a web application framework to which we can "plug in" sites to, all sharing the same members, with goodies like a community game server (no real-money gambling, just fake chips), so users can demonstrate their skills in public.

Features would also include moderation beyond what is currently available here. Having per-user lists of friends and foes with different settings for each, with the ability to set per-thread permissions too.

Well, right now it's all in a fuzzy state; only time will tell what actually makes it into the end-product. It's in the very-malleable idea stage right now, but -as you know- big things have small beginnings :)

Actually, we have our eyes set in a high-availability setup, the kind that is being used for email servers and other mission-critical services.

These days they are quite affordable. There are enough gambling enthusiasts around to justify real-time dependable services (i.e. gaming, chat and even streamlined social networking for the niche!).

Quote from: Steve H on March 12, 2016, 02:35:13 AMAlso im certain the freeze up were something like a javascrpt plugin. Just disable it. that's no reason to completely recode the smf engine.

Well, it's not the SMF engine but a home-grown engine catering to the dynamics of gambling sites. Giving each member a personalized entire sub-forum where he/she can set the rules sure beats granting a simple section.

We''ll see how it goes.

Development pace depends on the level of sponsorship we get throughout the year. There are some money-making projects floating around such as what we recently did: opening our pages to ads from casinos.

(And the year is still young!)

Well, the solution is to get us a via media: mobile, uncluttered and "acceptably pretty" (this last point may be subjective, but there are common looks people accept as OK to the eye, in general :))

We ARE going to get a mobile-friendly, uncluttered layout.

Remember Google is "penalizing" non-mobile-friendly sites these days.

Adaptive layouts aren't the future... they are the present already!

Let's try again on the weekend

Back to being a traditional site.

Hopefully, at least the slow-downs are attenuated with this rather simple layout.

Okay, new round.

This darker one should be a "via media" between our bloated former self and a mobile-first site.

The goal was -in the end- to avoid the slow-downs.

Thanks for reporting. I'm glad things are more bearable.

The ultimate solution of course is to have the web engine coded from scratch (clean slate). Hopefully there is enough sponsorship and hours to make it a reality this year.

Anything else, just "shout". There are missing features to add to this new layout and I'm on it

Cheers!

Quote from: esoito on March 09, 2016, 06:41:23 AMNice colour scheme.  Is this on the new server?

Thanks for reporting Max, we have our eyes placed on moving to a high-availability server rather soon...  (but it's still same server right now  :D)

Quote from: esoito on March 09, 2016, 06:41:23 AMSo far, whilst typing this reply, there have been no freeze-ups.

Great! Even if they are at least bearable it's an improvement.

P.S. the site should prove better on mobile. It's passing google's mobile test now:

General Discussion / Testing... Are freeze-ups gone?
March 09, 2016, 05:19:21 AM
Test to see if freeze-ups are reduced (at least being manageable). Please post and report.

Yes... Long hours of work ahead to get this new layout up to its greatest potential, but taking them with a smile

We'll get there! Thanks!

hey Vic,

thank you for this very interesting MM :)

You are welcome Marvin, it is posted in the hopes it helps the fellows around :)

Quote from: marvin on February 28, 2016, 06:05:31 PM1. why do we need that 0.10 chip when our base unit is 1? what is it for?

You need it to be able to divide/split the session when compounding the unit.

For instance, when you have to play 1.7 per location you would place $1 x 1 and $0.10 x 7.

Quoteshould i apply the 75% rule like this? [...]

For the 36-unit attack illustration made in the post above, the 75% is applied after every successful "attack".

An attack being defined as any hit leaving you in the positive.

You can of course apply it as you please. It may be after every win OR after every successful session with your method thus making it an inter-session money management.

It can be used both in-session as well as inter-session. Up to you!

Cheers

Good post Bally.

QuoteIf we learn to exploit it instead of challenge it, the results will be greatly to our advantage!

I'm with you. If you master the short term, you will master the long one automagically, because the long term is the sum of all your short-term sessions

QuoteCan a particular way of betting be "better" (not sure what word to use?)

Perhaps "more effective"? I get you Ken, you are asking if given that the game of roulette is a fixed-odds game, can any bet be labeled as better than the other? And the answer is... drum rolls... no... at least not officially.

On the side, players will aways label their own betting systems as "better", but that is a subjective opinion based on each player's personal experience.

QuoteBob Smith the 21 year old goofball only plays the 2, 22 & 32, his favorite numbers and he swears by them, "they hit a lot" Bob says with a smile!

I think bob missed something: "they hit a lot when I play". And that is the gist of the matter.

Bob can experience wonderful results with his stiff bet, and the next player from that casino playing the same roulette can get ruined by betting 2,22 & 32,  Unless he bets at the exact same time Bob does it.

Such is the nature of randomness.

The wonderful results are related to a set of spins happening during a particular time in a particular roulette wheel. Therefore we can also ask: "Is Bob's timing real?". It certainly is real for Bob. BTW I recently started a poll related to this very topic: http://betselection.cc/gambling-philosophy/is-the-time-line-real/

Regarding the decent profits over many years, it can be seen as the player experiencing a positive deviation, not beating the game. Positive (and negative) deviations can last thousands upon thousands of spins.

As much as the casino with his positive edge and the APs can have long gaps when they lose (negative deviation), these decent profit wins by the player are simply regarded as positive deviations; never as the player truly "beating the game".

In the case of the casino, it is only a matter of leaving the table open for more spins until the deviation equalizes to what math dictates. Problem solved and back in profit.

In the case of the player, dead is the ultimate stop-win or stop-loss, so he/she may die in profit yet it doesn't mean he actually beat the math of the game, because more spins are required to make him go back to what math dictates. It's just that he won't play such games.

Quote from: Gizmotron on January 07, 2013, 05:57:30 PMIn this level of thinking, all you are searching for is anything that continues. As long as you can see a continuing structure, and as long as it continues to stay in that form, you can exploit it.

Curious how this thread is from 2012/2013 and "clumping" selections remain a strong point.

Since the game is the same today as it was 400 years ago, it is pretty safe to say this clumping thingy is quite a consistent trait

( And I'm coming to think everything for becoming a better bettor under these framework(s) of observation has been discussed already :D --And yet people continue to try to discover the next new thing instead of focusing on the consistent traits of the game )
