Tom, what can Tiago code that no other person can?

I want to have a friendly shot at it :)

Dear Sumit, people got uncomfortably spooked by the sudden chat window popping on them.

...Until a less intrusive 1-on-1 chat alternative is implemented, we must refrain from alienating those who prefer to read in peace.

(--We'll find a viable alternative for sure )

Chat is gone.

Even though personally I loved it, I'm not ok with "love it or hate it" features, since you alienate all the people who dislike it, and they are valuable community members too.

On the other hand, I'm perfectly ok with "love it or remain indifferent" features, since you can benefit the appreciating users while making no harm to those who don't mind.

Real-time communication with fellow members is a great enjoyable addition, but we'll try a less intrusive chat solution.

Thanks to all for your honest feedback.

Thanks guys, it's getting quite extreme reviews (only on both ends of the spectrum).

It's deeply alienating some users who miss a clean reading space, so chances are this chat is going to go, in favor of a more traditional room.
Some are avoiding logging-in just in because of it, not much good of a feature :fight:

Mixed reviews already!

Besides of the good ones/praises, there are these:

- Popup too intrusive.
- Currently no way to disable it entirely.

Well, the former chat was a downer because hardly anybody logged, I see this new always-on chat addition a good way to keep us connected in real time when we are online, but more work is needed to trim the intrusive details. I'll mod it slowly since I still have to publish our other scheduled software.

(...as usual with open-source, you get the foundation, but you have to sweat the modifications to suit your needs!)

Most-interesting observation. Thanks for bringing it around A.

After millions of spin tests it has been shown that there will always be a minimum of 4 repeaters in a 37 spin cycle

You gotta love when observations are of the "holding" kind!

Hi guys.

Now we are hosted in Canadian soil with plenty of boon. We have high availability, a new backup schedule with snapshots every 3 hours, Solid State Drive cache, a 1Gbps (fast!) connection port. Hardware-wise a great treat for our community, so it's time to focus on the actual software for us to enjoy.

...Why the extended downtime?

The reason is simple. We enjoy a heavily modified codebase (compared to the raw/base forum install) with plenty of man-hours from yours truly spent on it already.

While scrapping all of the custom code and starting again from scratch would have worked to get us back faster, it would also mean having to re-do loads of work again, which means DAYS of work to get us on par to where we were, versus taking over from where we left in exchange of only one day downtime for getting our setup right.

It was the right choice, had to take the fair trade-off!

So: Now we're officially open again. On bigger premises, with the ability to deliver better services, we are here to provide a great taste on this year's end.

Enjoy your Bet Selection home again!
