Well if the article is trustworthy and there were no crooked dealers involved, then it appears there may be some type of mechanical method to beat the game if you can test it over a large sample size..

I do not understand how anyone can "invest" in bitcoin, crypto...etc etc which is totally unregulated and it seems that every week there is a story where someone rips off tens of millions of dollars ...but it seems that the SEC may eventually authorize a crypto ETF where you can trade it just like a stock in a regulated market......I think that would attract a lot of traders since it would be regulated and you can be sure you can get your money out at any time.

To "make a living" playing poker and being able to pay your monthly bills as well as having to be a profitable player in the long run, you have to play at relatively high stakes ......and unfortunately the higher up you go in stakes, the higher the probability you will be cheated in the live games.

Also, for you to succeed in poker in the long run, you have to be more experienced and better "poker educated " and be a higher skill level than at least 6 or 7 players at your table of 10 players..

If just about 8 0r 9 players at the table are at the same or higher skill level than you, then you will be guaranteed to lose in the long run to the better players and the casino rake which is taken out for each pot.

Numerous poker simulations in which you can adjust the skill level of the players so that all the players have the same high skill level have shown that everyone will lose in the long run as the money just flows around the table and the casino rake ends up with all the money,

Today, most players are better educated in the game, there are numerous courses, books, poker schools, poker coaches etc etc etc where a bad poker player can become a reasonably  good average player.........and not a fish.

That's why most professional players will not play at a table if they recognize most of the players at the table are at his skill and experience level. It's just a waste of time and money.....so now they will only play at tables with bad players........"bum hunting" as they call it.

Playing poker for a living is about the same as playing blackjack for a living where a 
 21 now plays 6 to 5 instead of 3 to 2 or playing roulette which now has in some casinos a 000 in addition to a 00 and a 0.......casino advantage about 8 %.

If you think you can make a living playing poker, my advice is to listen to your mother and become a dentist or an accountant.

Also be careful if you carry large amounts of cash travelling to or from a casino if you play poker, baccarat,   sports betting etc etc etc    and you get stopped by police for speeding in a car or are in an airport ....it is possible the police can confiscate all your cash and, hiring a lawyer may cost more than  the cash you lost.

Looks like a good idea to try to segregate sections in a shoe....but I think that there have been numerous studies ( sorry can't give more details on that ) which show that in the long run, approximately 85% to 88% of the hands in a shoe will be for runs of 3 or less..................which make the entire shoe one big section of 3 hand combinations..
